SIZE:

11"[28 cm] x 6"[15 cm].

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Bernat® Big Ball Handicrafter® Holiday Yarn: 1 skein each:
  • White Sparkle (MC) will make 7 snowman dishcloths; Red Sparkle (A)
  • Bernat® Handicrafter® Yarn, 1 skein each: Black (B), Hot Orange(C)
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5 mm) or size for gauge
  • Two stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Needle & thread

GAUGE:

13 sc and 14 rows = 4" [10 cm].

DIRECTIONS:

With MC, ch 12.
Row 1: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn.
11 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn.
13 sc.
Rep last row twice more. 17 sc at end of last row.
Next 2 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
Next row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn.
Rep last 3 rows twice more. 23 sc at end of last row.
Next 7 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn. 21 sc.
Next 2 rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st across. Turn.
Rep last 3 rows once more. 19 sc at end of last row. Turn.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn. 17 sc.
Rep last row once more. 15 sts. Place markers at each end of row.
Next row: Sl st in each of first 3 sts. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 11 sc rem.

HEAD SHAPING
Rows 1-3: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 17 sc at end of 3rd row.
Rows 4-10: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn. Break MC. Join A.
Row 11: With A, ch 3 (counts as dc). Working in back loops only, 1 dc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Row 12: (RS -Tuck row). Ch 1. Insert hook in first dc, then in rem loop of first sc behind dc 1 row below. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice – tuck sc made. *1 tuck sc over next dc and sc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Row 13: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Row 14: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn.
Row 15: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows until 3 sc rem.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in last sc. Fasten off A. Turn.

POMPOM
Next row: Join MC with sl st to first sc. 3 sc in same sp as sl st. 3 sc in next sc. Turn. 6 sc.
Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Next row: Ch 1. (Sc3tog) twice. Fasten off.

NOSE
With C, ch 5.
Row 1: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 2 ch. Fasten off.

ARMS
Make 2.
Join 2 strands of B with sl st at marked sc. Ch 19. (Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each of next 2 ch. Ch 4) twice. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. Fasten off. Secure Arm at Body.
Rep for Second Arm.

FINISHING:

With B, embroider Eyes as shown using bullion st. With B, embroider 6 buttons, using French knot.
Sew Nose in position.
Fold Hat to RS and sew in position as shown.
