Rated 1 out of 5 by Grannygreenthumb from Not a great product! This product was recommended to me as a replacement for J&P Clark's Knit-Cro-Sheen. The color (cream) was a great match, but the quality of the thread was very poor. It is very stiff and scratchy and splits badly. The appearance is dull and coarse. Thank goodness I only ordered one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by peg3 from disappointed I just purchased 4 balls of south maid crochet thread #10, and was so disappointed. I think I found out why you can't find it in stores. If you get the chance to feel the thread , you will notice some sort of coating on it ,which makes it a little harder to work with, and it dosen't conform to the stitch that well. so no more south maid for me,maybe I can do Something with it. anyone know what is going on??

Rated 3 out of 5 by anonymous from Re: where it's made I first bought South Maid solely because it was made in Hungary! I am a 1st generation Hungarian American, and I taught myself to crochet. I did this because I wanted to achieve my Hungarian grandmother's incredible skill in thread crocheting (among many other thing!!), to the point of even when she was completely blind, creating her own filet patterns as she went (she never ever wrote anything down!) for huge tablecloths, bedspreads, and many other things! Hungarians are renowned for their incredible needleworks of all kinds (look up Hungarian embroidery if you're curious!), and this is why I was drawn to the South Maid thread made in Hungary. Since switching to Indian production the quality has declined, and now I will switch.

Rated 2 out of 5 by AuntieM2 from This breaks very easily First time I bought this brand, but I won't buy it again. I've had it break several times when I tied a knot at the end of my project and pulled it tight! Had to throw the project away, as it unraveled and no way to repair it. I'm sticking to Aunt Lydia's or Knit Cro-sheen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mariza from love it i love this thread. I made some dollies 16 years ago and is still remains the color and I put in the washer and dryer and still in good shape. It's great. Question? I am looking for a thread size 20 to do a set of placemat, napkin holder and coaster, please let me know where I can purchase them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tina from VERY PLEASED Very happy with this thread. I like the fact that it has body and holds the shape once finished. I also like the matte finish, I hate tacky shiny crocheted items! A split or two in yarn while crocheting but I have never had a thread yet that didnt split once or twice and I have been crocheting for over 30 years. I plan on purchasing this product again.
