108'' Solid Cotton Quilt Fabric is rated 3.6875 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Overall Fabric I have bought this fabric for a number of different apparel projects. Some were costumes, others were everyday items. The first time i got it was for part of an Edwardian/Steampunk combo costume. I wanted to make sure i would have extra left over if the part didn't work. Not only did it work in every way i needed it for, but i had way more than enough left over to use on future projects. I was able to use some of it for client orders as well. They loved it. It worked perfect for everything i made. I have a whole list of projects that i will be using it for in the coming months. I just wish there were more color options, as well as some prints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stiff?? I purchased this fabric for a different application, but was expecting something much more stiff based on other reviews. This feels the same to me as a 250 thread count sheet, and not at all stiff or uncomfortable. If you are expecting the feel of egyptian cotton you don't by fabric for $8/yd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Fine When Washed Several reviewers have mentioned stiffness - but it washes out when you wash the quilt (or the fabric first, if you do that). I use it to back Quilts of Valor and once the quilt is washed it is soft and flexible. The color washes less than some more expensive fabrics. The red color is "off" -- not a nice bright red, but otherwise fine. My local store is always out of this stuff, so it must be pretty popular!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst piece of material I have ever purchased!! I was making a quilt for a very special veteran and wanted a solid backing on it. I found just what I wanted a piece that was 108" wide. Time was of the essence and I have ordered from Joanne's many times before. The material came and I got everything ready to piece the backing on and was horrified when I opened it and it was 2 pieces of the most rattiest edged material I have ever seen. Not even a straight edge. No time to send it back and wait for a replacement. Need to find a Better fabric company to finish my quilt.

Rated 0 out of 5 by from NEVER AGAIN! I will NEVER buy the red again! its been washed 12 times, and treated twice, and had color catchers, old remedies and it still bleeds! I am taking it back and if they won't take it back I am contacting the manufacturer, this is ridiculous! it should not keep bleeding!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality basic cotton fabric in a useful width This plain weave cotton represents good value for money. It is not as coarse as a muslin, but not quite as smooth as a traditional percale. (This for for those like me who are 50+ and remember going into a piece goods store and asking for these fabrics.) The fabric as it arrives does not depend too much upon sizing for its body. I am anticipating about a 3 to 5% shrinkage rate after pre-washing. The weave is close enough that any shrinkage should not be excessive. (It was drilled into me from my first sewing class in Home Ec 44 years ago, anyone who does not pre-wash a cotton before cutting has no one to blame but herself for disappointing results.) The fabric is fairly opaque due to the close weave. Very little light filters through when held up to direct sunshine. I purchased the green. It is a good dark well saturated green. I would characterize it a balanced green with neither blue nor yellow dominating. Until you start looking for it, you do not realize how hard it is to find such a green. While displays vary by monitor, I found the swatch color as I viewed it at to be very accurate. What really recommends this fabric is the width. I will be using it to make a tailored bed skirt and cover a lightly used bench in my bedroom. It would be fabulous for a quilt back or a duvet cover as well. I am thinking about picking up some in white for a couple of over-sized shirts for the summer. I am happy to recommend this fabric to anyone needing a good basic plain weave cotton. It may be basic but now days it is not common to find.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from RE: 108"fabric..... I love this item. I buy it when it's NOT on sale and use a 40 or 50% coupon. I'm especially a fan of the white, available in stores but not online. I used to buy Country Classics, still do when I need lighter colors. I use both fabrics to line aprons that I make and sell. Recent price increases at Joann's have made me cool to buying other fabrics, unless I use coupons. It's a shame...fabrics that were 3.99 & 4.99 are now 7.99and 9.99. Too bad, their loss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great quilt backing I have ordered this fabric several times and used it for backing quilts. I am very satisfied with it. It's just the right weight for a backing fabric. I only wish it was available in the stores.
