SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 8 balls Bernat® Baby Blanket™ Sand Baby Small Ball OR 3 balls Bernat® Baby Blanket™ Sand Baby Big Ball
  • Size U.S. 11 circular knitting needle 40" long or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Stitch holder.

    • Finished Size: Approx 50" x 30”, excluding hood.
    • Gauge: 7 1/2 sts and 16 rows = 4" in Garter St. 10 sts and 12 rows = 4" in Trinity St Pat.

    • DIRECTIONS:

    • BLANKET
    • Cast on 94 sts. Do not join.
    • Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
    • Knit 9 rows [garter st], noting 1st row is RS.
    • Next row: [WS]. K5. *Kfb. K2. Rep from * to last 5 sts. K5. 122 sts.

    • Proceed in Trinity St Pat as follows:
    • Row 1: [RS]. K5. Purl to last 5 sts. K5.
    • Row 2: K5. *[K1. P1. K1] all in same st. P3tog. Rep from * to last 5 sts st. K5.
    • Row 3: K5. Purl to last 5 sts. K5.
    • Row 4: K5. *P3tog. [K1. P1. K1] all in same st. Rep from * to last 5 sts. K5. Rep last 4 rows for Trinity St Pat until work Blanket from beg measures approx 27?", ending on a RS row.
    • Next row: [WS]. K5. *K2tog. K2. Rep from * to last 5 sts. K5. 94 sts. Knit 9 rows [garter st].
    • Next row: [WS] Cast off 34 sts. K26 and place on st holder for Hood. Cast off 34 sts.

    • HOOD
    • Slip 26 sts from st holder to working needle.
    • Row 1: [RS]. K10. Kfb. K4. Kfb. K10. 28 sts.
    • Rows 2 and alt: Knit.
    • Row 3: K10. Kfb. K6. Kfb. K10. 30 sts.
    • Row 5: K10. Kfb. K8. Kfb. K10. 32 sts.
    • Row 7: K10. Kfb. K10. Kfb. K10. 34 sts.
    • Row 9: K10. Kfb. K12. Kfb. K10. 36 sts. Knit even in garter st until Hood measures approx 7", ending on a WS row.

    • Next row: [RS]. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Fasten off. With WS facing each other, sew 2 Ears tog. Rep for second Ear. Sew Ears to top of Hood as seen in picture.
