Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the colors I've been using both Madeira and Sulky for my machine embroidery. I love them both. Sulky is easier for me to find and is a better buy, especially since I use coupons to get a discounted price. Sulky has a wonderful assortment of colors so I can find the right blends for my projects. It would be nice if the colors online at JoAnn had the color numbers with them so I knew I was getting the same hue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced Madeira I have been using Madeira Rayon and Polyester for years. I was fortunate enough to have a Madeira factory within 50 miles and could save on shipping by picking it up. I was shocked when they recently increased their prices and could no longer afford to by it. I have a Baby-lock Ellegente 3 and it has a Sulky setting so I figured why not try it. I have fallen in love it sews exactly like Madeira. All of my projects sewed out beautifully with little to no breakage (I do large designs). They even have a Polyester that I have tried and love it has less sheen than the rayon. With coupons this is 1/3 the price of Madeira with the same results. I would not use this for Hand Embroidery it is for machines only in my opinion but for Machine Embroidery I do recommend it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I really like Sulky thread for embroidering, but it does have it's flaws. 1)I prefer the cone spools rather than the classic spool. The edges of the classic spool sometimes have nicks and causes the thread to catch. When this happens, I have to re-thread my machine. One fix is to raise the thread and not have the spool parallel with my machine. Hope this makes sense. 2)If the finished item is to be washed, some of the thread colors will bleed onto the fabric. Good things...1)it's reasonably priced especially with coupon or on sale. 2) Always consistent. 3)Finished product looks great. 4)Works well with my machine. I did read that the thread constant breaks with other users. I found this to be true, but only when I was not using the correct needle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk This thread keeps breaking. Claims it's "strong" right on the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality and use I have used this product for many years and find it to be of superior quality. I never buy it at full price, however. I always buy on sale or with coupons. Be sure to check with the manufacturer of your machine to be sure it recommends this brand. Some machines do not tolerate certain brands. Be sure to use the correct thread for the project. Using this thread for hand work is not the product you need to use. Also, I have found that Joann's does NOT rotate their stock. When you buy at the store the new product is put to the front. So, if that particular color is a favorite, it is possible you will get thread that has been on the shelf far too long and is no longer of the tensile strength it should be.

Rated 0 out of 5 by from Sulky Thread I bought three colors because they matched the material I was using. For the price (in which I was shocked at how much it was because I paid full price) It keeps breaking. I would think at that price it would be stronger since it claims to be strong right on the the label. Ths has happened to all three colors. Purple, Teal and Bright Green.
