SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Naturally Caron Spa yarn: 9-oz each A, B, C, D, E and F; Shown in:
    • Soft Sunshine (A)
    • Coral Lipstick (B)
    • Rose Bisque (C)
    • Green Sheen (D)
    • Ocean Spray (E)
    • Berry Frappe (F)
  • Crochet hook size US G-6 (4mm), or size to obtain gauge
  • Yarn needle

SIZE: Blanket measures approx. 50" wide x 64" long

GAUGE: In pattern, one Motif = 4-1/2" square

STITCHES:

Chain (ch)
Double crochet (dc)
Half double crochet (hdc)
Single crochet (sc)
Slip stitch (slip st)
Yarn over (yo)

SPECIAL TERMS:

Beginning cluster (beg-cl): [Yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, leaving remaining loop unworked] 2 times in same st, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Cluster (cl): Work [ to ] as for beg-cl 3 times in same st, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

NOTES:

  • Join rnds with a slip st in stitch indicated.
  • When joining Motifs, begin at edge of piece and work in stair-step fashion, so that sewing color matches block color.

MOTIF (make 22 each using A, B, C, E and F; 20 using D -- 130 total):

Chain 6; join in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, work beg-cl in ring, ch 3, in ring work [cl, ch 3] 7 times, join in beg-cl—8 clusters/ and 8 ch-3 sp.
Rnd 2: Work 3 sc in each ch-3 sp around; join in first sc—24 sc. Note: Piece will cup at this point creating a raised floral center
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in next 2 sc, ch 3, [dc in next 3 sc, ch 3] 7 times; join in top of beg-ch—24 dc/8 ch-3 sp.
Rnd 4: Sc in same st as join, sc in next 2 dc, 5 sc in next ch-3 sp, [sc in next 3 dc, 5 sc in next ch-3 sp] 7 times; join in first sc—64 sc.
Rnd 5: Slip st in next sc, ch 3, [3 dc, ch 1, 4 dc] in same sc (corner made), *skip next 3 sc, sc in next 9 sc, skip next 3 sc, [4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc] in next sc (corner made); repeat from * 2 more times, skip next 3 sc, sc in next 9 sc, skip next 3 sc; join in top of beg-ch—32 dc/36 sc/4 corner ch-1 sp.
Rnd 6: Slip st in next dc, ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), *(dc, ch 3, dc) in corner ch-1 sp, [ch 2, skip next 2 sts, dc in next st] 5 times, ch 2; repeat from * 2 more times, (dc, ch 3, dc) in corner ch-1 sp, [ch 2, skip next 2 sts, dc in next st] 4 times, ch 2; join in third ch of beg-ch—28 dc/24 ch-2 sp/4 corner ch-3 sp.
Rnd 7: Slip st in next ch-2 sp, ch 2 (counts as hdc), 2 hdc in same ch-2 sp, *(3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc) in corner ch-3 sp, 3 hdc in next 6 ch-2 sp; repeat from * 2 more times, (3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc) in corner ch-3 sp, 3 hdc in next 5 ch-2 sp; join in top of beg-ch—96 hdc/4 corner ch-1 sp.
Fasten off.

FINISHING:

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Arrange motifs according to Assembly Diagram (see above). With RS facing, using yarn needle and matching yarn, whipstitch Motifs together.

EDGING:

With RS facing, join D with sc in any corner ch-1 sp.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, sc in same sp as joining, **[ch 3, skip next 3 hdc, sc between previous and next hdc] 7 times, ch 3, *sc in next seam, [ch 3, skip next 3 hdc, sc between previous and next hdc] 7 times, ch 3; repeat from * to next corner ch-1 sp, [sc, ch 3, sc] in corner ch-1 sp; repeat from ** 2 more times; [ch 3, skip next 3 hdc, sc between previous and next hdc] 7 times, ch 3; join in first sc.
Rnd 2: *Work [2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in corner ch-3 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each ch-3 sp to next corner; repeat from * around; join in first sc. Fasten off D; join F with slip st in any corner ch-3 sp.
Rnd 3: Using F, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), [dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1, dc] in same corner ch-3 sp, [dc, ch 1, dc] in each ch-3 sp to next corner, *[dc, ch 1, dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1, dc] in corner ch-3 sp, [dc, ch 1, dc] in each ch-3 sp; repeat from * around; in third ch of beg-ch. Fasten off F; join E with a slip st in any corner ch-3 sp.
Rnd 4: Using E, [ch 3, sc] 3 times in same corner ch-3 sp as joining, [sc, ch 3, sc] in each ch-1 sp to next corner, *sc in next corner ch-3 sp, [ch 3, sc] 3 times in same corner ch-3 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each ch-1 sp to next corner; repeat from *around; join in first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
