Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Sock Needle Set that's (Almost) Perfect I have bought several of these sets because they're the most useful sock needles I've found. The color coding is immensely helpful for telling sizes apart, and the points are nice and sharp for doing decreases and other finicky stitches. They will bend, with enough pressure, but do not break like wooden or bamboo needles. And they're highly affordable compared to most other sock needle sets. However, if I wish I could change two things about them. First, they're about an inch too long. At 7", these needles are constantly poking through my smaller knitting bags, which gets annoying really fast. Also, in low light conditions, it's hard to tell the gold from the silver. It would have been helpful if a different color had been chosen for either the size 1 or size 2 needles. So, my search for the perfect sock needles continues, but in the meantime, these are far and away the best I've found.

However, I would not have known and had no way of checking needle size on needles so small, so my hat is off to the lady that provided the color codes. Why doesn't the company do it???? Otherwise, I am very pleased with my purchase. You can't find these sizes hardly anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter set for tiny knitting The lack of color coding on the package is still true but the coding is consistent with the older review, 1=silver, 0=gold, 00=red, 000=blue. The needles are nicely slippery and suitably firm for moderately tight knitters. Really tight knitters might prefer to find steel needles in these smaller sizes though, since these do flex some and would probably get bent quickly. However if you aren't sure you'll enjoy knitting at tiny gauges these are great needles to try it out with. Even if you only end up using the 1s and 0s for socks you haven't really lost any money getting the 00s and 000s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color Coding Great needles. It's true they don't tell what color is which size on the package. The set I bought are as follows: the 1's are silver; the 0's are gold; the 00's are red; and the 000's are blue. Hope this helps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Sock needles I got my needle set a few years back and my 0's and 1's are never empty when I'm working on socks. I have many pairs of lovely expensive bamboo dpn's that have gone neglected for a long time since I've discovered these. I have not gotten any real use out of the teensy ones 00 and 000, but the other two have certainly earned their keep. I have found that getting a second set of 1's and using the 5th needle from my first set works beautifully for doing two socks at once. I'm a fairly tight sock knitter and mine have not bent noticeably at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These needles totally rock! I'm addicted to making socks for people. The longer lengths are great because the stitches all fit when making larger socks or mittens. The super thin needles may bend a little. Just use care with the tiny sizes. Use a Joann's coupon, and you could get up to 50% off at the store. Then, the price is phenomenal.
