Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Tall Vase:
    Yarn: Bernat Roving in “rice paper", 1 ball;
    Knitting needle size, 10-1/2
    Cable needle
  • Medium Vase:
    Yarn: Bernat Roving in “putty", 1 ball;
    Knitting needle size, 10-1/2
  • Small Vase:
    Yarn: Paton’s Classic Wool in “light grey marl", 1 ball
    Knitting needle size, 7
  • For all sizes:
    Buttons –assorted sizes & color of choice
    Measuring tape
    Scissors
    Yarn needle
    Hand sewing needle and thread in colors to co-ordinate with yarns

DIRECTIONS:

GAUGE: Tall & Medium vases 3 sts and 4 rows =1"; Small vase 5 sts and 6-1/2 rows = 1"

Tall Vase
(reverse stockinette)
CO 48
K 2 rows
Begin cable pattern (work rows 1-6)
Row 1: (RS)K 3, P4, K6, P35
Row 2: K 35, P 6, K7
Row 3: K3, P4, K6, P35
Row 4: K35, P6, K7
Row 5: K3, P4, slip 3 sts to CN and hold in front, K3 from LHN, K3 from CN, P35
Row 6: K 35, P6, K7
Repeat cable pattern 5 times more
Bind off

Medium Vase (garter)
CO 46
Work in garter (knit every row) until piece measures 5"
Bind off.

Small Vase (stockinette)
CO 70
Rows 1&2: K3, P to last 3 sts, K3
Row 3 (RS) (Begins stockinette – knit on RS, purl on WS) : K
Row 4: K3, P to last 3 sts, K3
Repeat rows 3 & 4 until piece measures 3" (end with WS row)

FINISHING A, B, C:
Refer to photo for placement of overlaps and buttons. Sew on buttons using thread; stitch overlaps in place using yarn.
