SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Outdoor fabric: 2/3 yards each of 3 complementary fabrics (assumes 44” fabric width)
- Matching thread
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine
Finished table runner is 72”x 17”
Fabrics used in photo: Better Homes and Gardens® Frey in cherry, cobalt, and green.
This table runner has 5 sections: sections 1 and 5 are in cherry, sections 2 and 4 are in cobalt, section 3 is green. The “twist” to this table runner is with each section, the fabric orientation rotates 90 degrees.
- Cut two 19”x 10 ½” rectangles of cherry (these become sections 1 and 5). Cut two 19”x 19” squares of the cobalt fabric (these become sections 2 and 4). Cut one 19”x 19” square of green (this becomes section 3).
- Sew sections together in order 1 through 5 with ½” seam allowance, remembering to rotate the fabric’s pattern or texture by 90 degrees from section to section. Refer to image or video for reference.
- To hem all the way around the table runner, follow these steps: fold each side ½” toward the wrong side of the fabric and press; fold ½” down again, press and pin; then stitch 1/8” from the edge of fold to create a sealed side edge.
