DIRECTIONS:

Getting Started
Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275° F for 15 minutes per 1/4" thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275° F. Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
1. Roll out a bar of Jewelry Gold through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 setting. The longest edge should be at least 6" long.
2. Place the clay on a work surface. Lightly mist the sheet with water. Position the straight edge near the top of the sheet. Gently roll the texture wheel across the clay, using the straight edge as a guide. Reposition the straight edge lower on the sheet of clay at least an inch from the completed row of texture. Create another row of texture. Repeat this process until the sheet of clay is filled.
3. Use the Super Slicer to trim the top and bottom edge of the first line of texture. Repeat this until 4 texture strips are trimmed. It doesn't matter how much selvage is on the texture strips, as long as it is the same amount on each piece.
4. Remove the cardboard backer from the frame and use it as the template to trim and position the clay. Gently lay the clay on the cardboard and position it back into the frame to ensure desired result. Pressing too hard will ruin the textures.
5. Bake the clay in position on the cardboard according to the directions above. Once the clay is cooled, slide the photo into position and place the cardboard, clay matte and photo into the frame.
