  • 1 skein Lion Brand® Homespun® yarn: Edwardian or color of choice
  • Cochet hook size K-10.5 or size needed for gauge
  • Large-eyed blunt needle

GAUGE:

10 sc + 10 rows = 4".

DIRECTIONS:

Beret is worked in joined rnds, beg at top. Finished circumference 20" will stretch to fit a range of sizes.
Ch 3.
Rnd 1 (RS): Work 10 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beg ch does not count as a st); join with sl st in first hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc in next st, ch 1; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 10 sc and 10 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 3: (Sl st, ch 1, 2 sc) in first ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sk next sc, 2 sc in next ch-1 sp; rep from * 8 more times, ch 1; join with sl st in first sc – 20 sc and 10 ch-1 sps.

TOP LOOP
From RS, join yarn with sl st at center top of Beret, ch 10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing. Fold piece in half and sew end of loop to Beret.

FINISHING:

Weave in ends.
