BUTTERFLY WAND

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Pkg. Perler Rainbow Butterflies Kit
  • 1/2" dowel rod
  • Clothespin
  • 10 yds of 1/8" ribbon (8)
  • Matching paint (purple & green)
  • Paintbrush
  • Gel-type super glue

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for making a Perler bead butterfly EXCEPT omit center row on butterfly so that the butterfly is in two pieces.
  2. Cut dowel rod to 16” (or desired length). Sand or sharpen one end into a point.
  3. Paint dowel rod and clothes pin for butterfly body. Allow to dry completely.
  4. Use super glue to glue wings on sides of clothes pin.
  5. Glue dowel rod into bottom of clothes pin.
  6. Cut ribbons into 1 yd lengths.
  7. Tie ribbons to rod and cut to desired length.

STAR PRINCESS WAND

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Matching felt squares (3)
  • Matching embroidery floss
  • Small amount of fiberfill
  • Gem for center
  • 1/2" dowel rod
  • 10 yds of 1/4" Ribbon (8)
  • Matching paint (blue)
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Enlarge pattern and cut 2 for front and back of outer star, 1 for middle star and 1 for inner star. Note: cut 2 each for decorating front and back.
  2. Pin middle star to outer star and with 3 strands of embroidery floss, blanket stitch or whip stitch in place.
  3. Pin inner star to middle star and with 3 strands of embroidery floss, blanket stitch or whip stitch in place.
  4. Glue gem to center.
  5. Use 3 strands of embroidery floss to blanket stitch or whip stitch front to back; leave an opening in the bottom for stuffing. Do not cut thread.
  6. Lightly stuff heart.
  7. Cut dowel rod to 16" (or desired length).
  8. Paint dowel rod, allow to dry completely.
  9. Cut ribbons to 18" and glue to top of painted dowel rod.
  10. Apply a generous amount of glue to dowel rod over ribbons and push inside of star. Lightly press star to dowel rod; allow glue to dry.
  11. Finish sewing around bottom of star to close.
  12. Cut ribbons to desired length.

SKULL WAND

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Small Styrofoam® skull
  • 10" Styrofoam bone
  • 1/2" dowel rod
  • 10 yds of 1/8" ribbon (8)
  • Red oval gems
  • Bone white paint
  • Black paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Optional: regular & fine point black Sharpie™
  • Gel-type super glue

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Paint skull and bone with bone white paint. Shade as desired.
  2. Use black paint or Sharpie™ to color in eye sockets and nose.
  3. Use fine point Sharpie™ to draw around teeth.
  4. Glue gems in eye sockets.
  5. Glue bone to underside of skulls.
  6. Cut dowel rod to 6" (or desired length). Sand or sharpen one end into a point.
  7. Paint dowel rod black. Allow to dry completely.
  8. Push dowel rod into bottom of bone and glue dowel in place.
  9. Cut ribbons into 1 yd lengths.
  10. Tie ribbons to bone under skull and cut to desired length.
