    • SIZE
    • About 51" x 51" (129.5 x 129.5 cm)

    • GAUGE
    • Three 3-dc groups + 6 rows = about 5" (12.5 cm).
    • BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

    • DIRECTIONS:

    • Afghan is made in one piece, in 2 Triangles.
    • First Triangle is worked from point to point. Sts are increased on one side to center. Then sts are decreased on the same side to the opposite point.
    • First row of Second Triangle is worked along long edge of First Triangle. Sts are decreased on each side to top point.
    • A diagram is included to show the direction of work.
    • The yarn color is changed every 2 rows to make stripes.
    • To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.
    • A border is worked around the entire outside edge of the Afghan.

    • STRIPE SEQUENCE
    • *Work 2 rows each with A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, H, I, D, J, K, and L; rep from * for Stripe Sequence.

    • FIRST TRIANGLE
    • Increasing
    • With A, ch 5.
    • Row 1 (RS): Work 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in last ch – you will have 1 beg ch-sp, one 3-dc group and 1 final dc in this row.
    • Row 2: With A, ch 4, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, sk the 3-dc group, dc in top of beg ch and change to B.
    • Row 3: With B, ch 3, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, 4 dc in beg ch-sp (counts as one 3-dc group and final dc in this row and all following rows) – 1 beg ch-sp, two 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Row 4: With B, ch 4, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, 3 dc in next sp between 3-dc groups, dc in top of beg ch and change to C.
    • Row 5: With C, ch 3, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, 3 dc in next sp between 3-dc groups, 4 dc in beg ch-sp – 1 beg ch-sp, three 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Row 6: With C, ch 4, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, 3 dc in each sp between 3-dc groups, dc in top of beg ch and change to D.
    • Row 7: With D, ch 3, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, 3 dc in each sp between 3-dc groups, 4 dc in beg ch-sp – 1 beg ch-sp, four 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Rows 8-43: Rep Rows 6 and 7 and continue to change color every other row following Stripe Sequence until a total of 43 rows have been worked – you will 1 beg ch-sp, twenty-two 3-dc groups and 1 final dc at the end of Row 43. Note: Rows 43 and 44 are worked with A.
    • Decreasing
    • Row 44: With A, ch 4, turn, sk first 4 sts, 3 dc in each sp between 3-dc groups, dc in top of beg ch and change to H – 1 beg ch-sp, twenty-one 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Row 45: With H, ch 3, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, 3 dc in each sp between 3-dc groups, dc in beg ch-sp.
    • Rows 46-83: Rep Rows 44 and 45 and continue to change color every other row following Stripe Sequence until there are a total of 83 rows – you will have 1 beg ch-sp, two 3-dc groups and 1 final dc at the end of Row 83. Note: Rows 83 and 84 are worked with L.
    • Row 84: With L, ch 4, turn, sk first 4 sts, 3 dc in next sp between 3-dc groups, dc in top of beg ch and change to A – 1 beg ch-sp, one 3-dc group and 1 final dc.
    • Row 85: With A, ch 3, turn, 3 dc in sp between first 2 sts, dc in beg ch-sp.
    • Row 86: With A, ch 3, turn, sk the 3-dc group, dc in top of beg ch.
    • Fasten off.

    • SECOND TRIANGLE
    • From RS, join A with sl st in ch at base of 3-dc group in Row 1.
    • Row 1 (RS): Working in ends of rows across long edge of First Triangle, ch 4, sk end of Row 1, 3 dc in end of next row, *sk end of next row, 3 dc in end of next row; rep from * across working last 3 dc in end of Row 86, dc in top of beg ch of Row 86 – you will have 1 beg ch-sp, forty-three 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Row 2: With A, ch 4, turn, sk first 4 sts, 3 dc in each sp between 3-dc groups, dc in beg ch-sp and change to B – 1 beg ch-sp, forty-two 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Rows 3-42: Rep Row 2 and continue to change color every other row following Stripe Sequence until there are a total of 42 rows in Second Triangle – you will have 1 beg ch-sp, two 3-dc groups and 1 final dc at the end of Row 42. Note: Row 42 is worked with G and the color is changed to A at the end of Row 42.
    • Row 43: With A, ch 4, turn, sk first 4 sts, 3 dc in sp between 3-dc groups, dc in beg ch-sp – 1 beg ch-sp, one 3-dc groups and 1 final dc.
    • Row 44: With A, ch 4, turn, sk the 3-dc group, dc in beg ch-sp.
    • Fasten off.

    • FINISHING:
    • Border
    • Note: Work border very loosely. You may want to use a larger hook.
    • From RS, join A with sl st in end of 2nd row following any corner.
    • Rnd 1: Ch 1, 4 sc in end of same row, *4 sc in end of each row to next corner, rotate piece to work along next side, 4 sc in end of first row and place marker in the first of these sc for corner; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc.
    • Fasten off.
    • Rnd 2: From RS, join H with sl st in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 3, sk next 3 sts, sc in next st; rep from * around working 3 sc in each marked corner st and move marker to center sc of each 3-sc group; join with sl st in first sc.
    • Fasten off.
    • Rnd 3: From RS, join I with sl st in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st, *(ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next sc) to next marked corner sc, 3 sc in marked sc and move marker to center sc of 3-sc group just made, sc in next sc; rep from * around, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc.
    • Fasten off.
    • Rnd 4: From RS, join D with sl st in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st, *(ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next sc) to next 3-sc corner, sc in next sc, ch 2, sc in marked corner sc and move marker to sc just made, ch 2, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc.
    • Fasten off.
    • Rnd 5: From RS, join L with sl st in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st, *(ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next sc) to 1 sc before next ch-2 sp, ch 3, sk ch-2 sp, sc in marked corner sc and move marker to sc just made, ch 3, sk next ch-2 sp, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc.

    • Rnd 6: From RS, join J with sl st in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st, *(ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next sc) to ch-3 sp before marked corner sc, ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, 3 sc in marked corner sc and remove marker; rep from * around, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc.
    • Fasten off.
    • Rnd 7: With K, rep Rnd 3.
