SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Lily® Sugar’n Cream® (70.9 g/2.5 oz; 109 m/120 yds)
    • Contrast A Warm Brown 1 ball (45 m/50 yds)
    • Contrast B White 1 ball (12 m/14 yds)
  • Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Yarn needle

DIRECTIONS:

Football With A, cast on 3 sts.
1st row: (RS). Knit.
2nd row: K1. P1. K1.
3rd row: K1. M1. K1. M1. K1. 5 sts.
4th and alt rows: K1. Purl to last st. K1.
5th row: K1. M1. Knit to last st. M1. K1. 7 sts.
7th row: K1. M1. Knit to last st. M1. K1. 9 sts
8th row: As 4th row.
Rep last 2 rows until there are 21 sts.
Do not break A. Join B.
With B, rep last 2 rows 3 times. 27 sts. Break B.
With A, rep last 2 rows until there are 39 sts.
Beg with a purl row, work 9 rows even in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). ssk. Knit to last 2 sts. K2tog.
Next row: K1. Purl to last st. K1.
Rep last 2 rows until 27 sts rem. Join B at end of last row.
With B, rep last 2 rows 3 times. 21 sts rem. Break B.
With A, rep last 2 rows until 3 sts rem.
Cast off.
Stitching Panel With B, cast on 17 sts.
Knit 1 row. Cast off.
Sew Stitching Panel to center of Football.
With B, work ‘Stitches’ as shown in picture, using straight stitch embroidery.
