SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Fabric:
    • 2½ yds Sunflowers
    • 1/4 yd Dusty
    • 1/4 yd Scroll
    • 1/4 yd Rustic Stripe
    • 1/4 yd Foulard
    • 5/8 yd Foulard Brown
    • 1/2 yd Starburst
    • 2⅔ yds Tuscan Patch: backing
  • 1/3 yd quilter’s cotton, hunter
  • Crib-size batting
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

Read all directions before beginning. Refer to photo for fabric layout guide. Seam allowances 1/4". WOF = Width of Fabric. LOF = Length of Fabric.

CUTTING: In order. Label pieces.

Sunflowers: Two 8"xWOF strips. From strips cut six 8" squares. Unit 1.
Three 5½"xWOF strips. Piece for top & bottom borders. Unit 2.
Two 5½"xLOF strips for side borders. Unit 3.
Dusty: Two 8" squares. Unit 4.
Scroll: Two 8" squares. Unit 5.
Rustic Stripe: 8" square. Unit 6.
Foulard: 8" square. Unit 7.
Foulard Brown: Two 2½"xWOF strips. From strips cut twenty 2½" set squares. Unit 8.
Six 2¼"xWOF strips for binding. Unit 9.
Starburst: Two 8"xWOF strips. From strips cut thirty-one 8"x2½" sashing strips. Unit 10.
Quilter’s cotton: Six 1½"xWOF strips for inner border. Unit 11.

ASSEMBLY:

1. Sew four Unit 8 squares to three Unit 10 strips to create a row. Make 5 rows. Press row seams to the left.
2. Lay out 8" blocks of Units 1, 4, 5, 6, 7. Start & end with a Unit 10. Sew Unit 10 strips & 8" squares together to create a row. Make 4 rows. Press seams of the 4 rows to the right.
3. Sew all of the rows from Step 1 and Step 2 together; match seams to create the quilt top center.
4. Sew the Unit 11 border strips to the Step 3 quilt to center, mitering the corners.
5. Sew Unit 2 and 3 borders to the Step 4 quilt top center, mitering corners.
6. Layer top, batting & backing; quilt & bind. Finished size 44"x 53".
