SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

PANDA:

  • Two 12"x6mm Black chenille stems
  • One 12"x6mm White chenille stems
  • Two 1/4" Black pompoms
  • Six 1/4" White pompoms
  • One 5mm black pompom
  • Two 7mm Wiggle eyes
  • Scrap piece of black felt
  • Scissors
  • Round pencil
  • Wire Cutter
  • Low temp glue gun

LION:

  • Three 12"x6mm Tan chenille stems
  • Seven 1/4" Tan pompoms
  • One 5mm Black pompom
  • Two 7mm Wiggle eyes
  • 3"x3" Yellow felt
  • Scissors
  • Round pencil
  • Wire Cutter
  • Low temp glue gun

MONKEY:

  • Eight 1/4" Tan pompoms
  • Five 12"x6mm Brown chenille stems
  • One 5mm Black pompom
  • Two 7mm Wiggle eyes
  • Scrap piece tan felt
  • Scissors
  • Round pencil
  • Wire Cutter
  • Low temp glue gun
  • (Use low temp glue gun only with adult supervision)

DIRECTIONS:

PANDA:

  1. For head and body, curl one white and one black chenille stem, by holding one end and tightly curling towards opposite end. Lightly glue to secure. Glue circles together slightly, overlapping cut ends. Refer to photo
  2. Glue two black 1/4" pompoms to head for ears. Glue two white pompoms to face for cheeks and black 5mm pompom to cheeks for nose. Trace and cut pattern for eyes from black felt (Fig. 3; see PDF) and glue to face above cheeks then glue wiggle eyes over felt.
  3. Glue two white pompoms for hands and two for feet to body. Refer to photo.
  4. Cut 3" from remaining chenille stem. Fold in half (Fig. 1; see PDF) and bend end slightly (Fig. 2; see PDF). Glue fold to back of body for support while sitting.
  5. Finished size: 3"

LION:

  1. For head, curl one chenille stem into a circle by holding one end and tightly curling toward opposite end. Lightly glue end to secure. Repeat once more for body. Glue circles together slightly overlapping cut ends. Refer to photo.
  2. For ears cut two 1" piece from remaining chenille stem. Fold each in half and glue to back of head.
  3. For back legs cut two 2" pieces from chenille stem and bend 1/2" on one end. Then glue to back of body near each side. Glue two pompoms end of each back leg. Glue 2 black pompoms close together on bottom front of body. Refer to photo.
  4. Glue two tan pompoms to front of face for cheeks. Glue black pompom on top of cheeks for nose. Glue eyes to face. Refer to photo.
  5. Trace and cut pattern for lion's mane from yellow felt (Fig. B; see PDF) and glue to back of head.
  6. Cut 3" from remaining chenille stem and bend as desired for tail. Glue to bottom back of body letting body rest on tail for support. Glue remaining pompom to end of tail.
  7. Finished size: 3-1/2"

MONKEY:

  1. For head curl one chenille stem into a circle by holding one end and tightly curling toward opposite end. Lightly glue end to secure. Repeat once more for body. Glue circles together slightly overlapping cut ends. Refer to photo
  2. For arms and legs cut two chenille stems in half and curl each piece by wrapping around a pencil. Glue end of one curled chenille to shoulder of body. Repeat for opposite side. Glue end of one curled chenille for leg to bottom of body. Repeat for second leg. Glue tan pompom to end of each arm and leg.
  3. Glue two tan pompoms to side of head for ears. Glue two tan pompoms close together in front of face for cheeks. Glue one black pompom to cheeks for nose and glue two eyes to face. Refer to photo.
  4. Trace and cut pattern for tummy from tan felt (Fig. A; see PDF) and glue to front of body.
  5. Cut 3" from remaining chenille stems. Bend as desired to form tail and glue to back bottom of body, letting body rest on tail for support.
  6. Finished size: 3"
