Wrap Your Bottle Cozy
Give & display wine bottles with hand-knit cozies in an array of colors! The pompom ties add merry style to the presentation.
10"x12" [25cm x 30 cm] fits a standard 750ml wine bottle.
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Red Heart® Super Saver® yarn,
- 1 skein ea: Burgundy (A), Soft White (B)
- Double-pointed needles: Size 8 [5mm] or size for gauge
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
17 sts = 4" [10 cm]; 25 rows = 4" [10 cm] in St st.
Bottle Cozy is worked in the round from the bottom up.
With A, cast on 42 sts.
Arrange stitches evenly around three double-pointed needles. Join, taking care not to twist sts. Place marker for beginning of round.
Rnd 1: Working in rounds, knit until 8Â½" [21.5 cm] from beginning.
Begin decrease rounds as follows:
Rnd 1: *K5, k2tog;
repeat from * to end of Rnd - 36 sts.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Rnd 3: *K4, k2tog;
repeat from * to end of rnd - 30 sts.
Rnd 4: Knit.
Rnd 5: *K3, k2tog;
repeat from * to end of rnd - 24 sts.
Rnd 6: Knit.
Rnd 7: *K2, k2tog;
repeat from * to end of rnd - 18 sts.
Change to B.
Rnd 1: Knit.
Rnds 2-13: *K2, P1;
repeat from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 14: Bind off sts tightly.
Cut 18" [46 cm] length of B. Thread through yarn needle. With needle, weave in & out around neck of bottle & tie bow to secure. Refer to photo. With B, make two 2Â½" [6 cm] dia. pompoms. Sew to ends of ties. Weave in ends.
