* Cowl is worked in joined rounds. At the end of each round, work a slip stitch to join last stitch to first stitch. Turn at the beginning of each round.
* If it is difficult to join the beginning chain into a ring without twisting the chain, Round 1 can be worked as a row, then joined into a round, as follows: Chain 37, work a single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, work a single crochet in each remaining chain across; join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
Proceed to Round 2. When weaving in ends, use the beginning yarn tail to sew the ends of the first row together.
Chain 36. Being careful not to twist the chain; join with slip stitch in first chain to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1, work a single crochet in each chain around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet – 36 single crochet stitches at the end of this round.
Round 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), turn, work a double crochet in each single crochet around; join with slip stitch in top of turning chain.
Round 3: Chain 1, turn, work a single crochet in each double crochet around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until nearly all yarn has been used. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
