SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Felt
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Embroidery Needle
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Pen

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut two 3"x 3" squares from the felt.
  2. Cut one square in half on the diagonal to make a triangle.
  3. Trace the triangle onto the paper.
  4. Inside the triangle, draw the design to be transferred onto the felt.
  5. In this case, it was a monogram initial & several small flowers.
  6. Draw the design onto the felt.
  7. Split the embroidery floss & use three strands to embroider this design.
  8. Thread the needle.
  9. The following stitches were used here: stem, French knot, lazy daisy, straight & satin.
  10. Any stitches can be used to achieve the design.
  11. Embroider the design.
  12. Use one color for a monochromatic look or alternate colors if using a palette with several shades.
  13. When the triangle is done, place it on top of the square, aligning it with one of the corners.
  14. Using a blanket stitch, stitch through both felt layers on the edges that align.
  15. This will leave the diagonal edge of the triangle open to be slid over the corner of a page.
