SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
DIRECTIONS:
- Fabric, choice: 3/4 yd-1 5/8 yd, depending on fabric choice, ie. width, design, fiber content
- 16"x 16"x 2" Pillow Form
- Coordinating thread
- Sewing scissors and/or rotary blade
- Cutting mat/clear ruler (if using rotary blade)
- Tape measure, gauge
- Straight pins
- Sewing machine
- Machine needles
DIRECTIONS:
- (Test your fabric for heat sensitivity. Use a press cloth if needed.)
- On double layer of fabric, use pillow form to trace a 16" circle.
- Measure & mark fabric 1/2" outside the circle. Resulting circle will be 17" diameter.
- Cut the circular pieces out of the double layer of fabric.
- Cut boxing strip: 55"x 3".
- Pin one long edge of the boxing strip around the circumference of one of the circular pieces of fabric, with RST. Start 1" from end of boxing strip.
- Sew a 1/2" seam allowance. Clip seam allowance at approximately 1" intervals to help fabric lay flat for a neat finished look.
- Pin the other long-edge of the boxing strip around the second circular fabric piece, RST, 1/2" seam. Stop stitching 6"-7" before end. Secure stitch at beginning and end. Clip seam allowances.
- Stitch side seam of boxing strip.
- Insert pillow form.
- Fold in the raw edges of opening, pin, hand stitch closed with a small whipstitch or slip stitch.
