Did the trick!
If you’re in store and grabbing a few just check to make sure the gauges are all the same. Grabbed a smaller, flimsier one that didn’t work out. And, the ends will fray so if those are going to show in your project, dip a little glue to keep them clean

Solid product, decorative only
The thread wrapping unravels a little bit if you need to cut the wire, but it's held up to my needs so far. Plenty strong enough for light decorative work, even sturdy enough to be structural support for cloth, paper, or bits of cardboard.
