DESCRIPTION +

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 4 18" pillow forms
  • 3/4 yd each black dot, orange, green & white fabric for pillows
  • 1/2 yd black fabric
  • 1/2 yd yellow fabric
  • 1 pkg black baby size rick-rack
  • 1 yd fusible webbing
  • 1 pkg 3/16" cable cording
  • 2-1/4 yds heavy weight interfacing or stitch and tear
  • Disappearing marker (optional)
  • Glue (optional)
  • Sewing machine
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
Basic Pillow: (black with white dots)
1. Cut 2 pieces 19"x19" for front and back.
2. Cut 1 interfacing 19"x19"; pin or baste to WS of pillow front.
3. Cut bias strips for cording; sew together into 1-1/2"x75" strip.
4. Use zipper foot and sew covered cording around outside edge of pillow front.
5. With RST, sew front to back leaving bottom open for turning.
6. Clip corners, trim interfacing and turn RS out.
7. Insert pillow form and slip stitch opening closed.

Jack-O-Lantern Pillow
1. Follow steps 1 – 4 of Basic Pillow using orange fabric for front and back and yellow fabric for covered cording.
2. Enlarge patterns.
3. Draw patterns onto paper side of fusible webbing.
4. Follow manufacturer’s directions and fuse to WS of yellow fabric; cut out.
5. Refer to photo and fuse face pieces to pillow front; if desired, machine appliqué.
6. Finish pillow following steps 5 – 7.

Ghost Pillow
1. Follow steps 1 - 4 of Basic Pillow using white fabric for front and back and black fabric for covered cording.
2. Enlarge patterns.
3. Draw patterns onto paper side of fusible webbing.
4. Follow manufacturer’s directions and fuse to WS of black fabric; cut out.
5. Refer to photo and fuse face pieces to pillow front; if desired, machine appliqué.
6. Use disappearing marker to draw on ghost outline.
7. Glue (or stitch) rick-rack over drawn outline.
8. Finish pillow following steps 5 - 7.

Frankenstein Pillow
1. Follow steps 1 – 4 of Basic Pillow using green fabric for front and back and black fabric for covered cording.
2. Enlarge patterns.
3. Draw patterns onto paper side of fusible webbing.
4. Follow manufacturer’s directions and fuse to WS of black and white fabrics; cut out.
5. Refer to photo and fuse face pieces to pillow front; if desired, machine appliqué.
6. Use disappearing marker to draw on mouth outline.
7. Glue (or stitch) rick-rack over drawn outline.
8. Finish pillow following steps 5 – 7.
