WC (Waistcoat Stitch - worked in rows with WS of previous row sts facing) Insert hook under the next inverted "V" between next 2 sts, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.
Note: This waistcoat stitch is worked like a single crochet EXCEPT that the hook is inserted in the inverted "V" between sts instead of under the top 2 loops of a st.

HAND TOWEL:
With larger hook, ch 79.
Row 1: Working in back loops only, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - you will have 78 sc and a beg ch-1 in this row.
Rows 2-9: Work in WC pattern for 8 rows.
Change to smaller hook.
Rows 10 and 11: Work in Grit St pattern for 2 rows.
