Poor quality backing fabric in kit reduces the overall savings and enjoyment in making gifts
I bought 8 sets of this kit as they were on sale. I planned to sew them together rather than cut & tie them. It worked out fine for a simple hemmed blanket turned inside out, but my original plan was to make 2 edge hemmed lap blankets per kit, but the poor quality of the backing fabric forced a change in plan and reduced the number of gifts I could make by half. I didn’t use all the kits before Christmas.
I’m now trying to cut the coordinating pieces into large blocks to make a checkerboard design (will still finish as an inside out blanket). That backing fabric is hard to lay out and cut accurately; the top fabric is thicker and lays out better. It’ll work as the front/back will be paired and stitched together. It’s making this project less enjoyable
