SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sweatshirt
  • 1/2 yd Cotton fabric
  • Water soluble stabilizer
  • Sewing machine with satin stitch presser foot
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Thread
  • Air Force template

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut letters out of cotton fabric using template.
  2. Arrange letters on front of sweatshirt, with stabilizer between sweatshirt and wrong-side of fabric letters.
  3. Hand baste letters to front of sweatshirt using a large hand stitch.
  4. Using a satin stitch (short, wide zigzag) applique all letters onto front of sweatshirt. Test applique stitch on a separate piece of fabric before sewing on garment.
  5. Tear away excess stabilizer and steam iron well.
