Americana Fleece Blanket and Pillows

• 1yd each of patterned fleece (front and fringe) and solid fleece (back)
• 1/4yd solid fabric (for fringe contrast)

• 1yd solid fleece for pillow back
• 1/2yd fleece for large pieced triangle
• 1/4yd fleece for each small pieced triangle

DIRECTIONS:

1. Bound Edge Fleece Blanket - Size Approximately 50"x 55"
2. Cut solid fleece and printed fleece to 50"x 55". Cut 230" of 2" wide bias and sew together to form one strip for binding.
3. Lay rectangles wrong sides together and pin around edge. Baste together around edges by machine.
4. Sew binding around raw edge of blanket right sides together, mitering corners as you go (1/2" seam allowance included). Turn under unsewn edge of binding 1/2" and fold over to back of blanket. Hand-stitch folded edge of binding to back of blanket.


5. Fringed Lumbar Pillow Cover with Envelope Back
6. Cut (1) 29"x 15" rectangle and (2) 3"x 14" rectangles out of patterned fleece. Cut (2) 18"x 15" rectangles out of solid fleece for back. Cut (2) 3"x 14" rectangles out of solid fringe fleece. (1/2" seam allowance is included.)
7. Fold over 1" of one 15" side of each “back" square and topstitch 3/4" from edge to finish ends. Overlap finished ends (one right side to one wrong side) to create 29" long backing. Machine baste on long edges to hold pieces together.
8. Lay patterned fringe pieces on top of solid fringe pieces, wrong-sides together. Lay fringe pieces onto each 15" side of “front" rectangle (leaving 1/2" seam allowance on each short side of fringe and long edges flush) with patterned fringe facing patterned front.
9. Lay back and front right-sides together and pin well. Sew along all four edges. Turn right side out and press. Clip every 1/2" into fringe rectangles to create fringe.


10. Pieced 18" Pillow Cover with Envelope Back
11. Cut (2) 19"x 16" rectangles for backing, (1) 20"x 20"x 28" rectangle and (2) 14"x 14"x 20" rectangles. (1/2" seam allowance is included.)
12. Fold over 1" on one 16" edge of each rectangle. Stitch 3/4" away from folded edge to finish edge. Overlap finished edges, one wrong side to one right side to create 19" backing.
13. Sew 14" rectangles right-sides together on 14" sides. Sew the finished piece to 28" side of larger rectangle, right-sides together.
14. Sew pieced front to back right-sides together around all four edges.
15. Turn piece right-side out and press.
