Apple Ruffle Mask

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description.
  2. Cut pattern from fabric.
  3. Match outer mask pieces right sides together and sew the outer curve. Repeat with
  4. lining pieces.
  5. Open both mask halves and press both seam allowances to the right.
  6. Topstitch down the center seam allowance, about 1/4" from the seam.

  7. To make ties: Cut 4 strips of fabric 1 1/2"x 18". Fold fabric in half lengthwise and press.
  8. Open up and bring both edges to the center fold line and press. Fold in half to make ties.
  9. Stitch close to edge to finish ties.

  10. Lay one half of the mask down with the right side facing up. Pin ends of ties in each
  11. corner, placing them 1/2" up/down from the top and bottom edge. Once ties are pinned
  12. in place, bundle the tie ends together in the center of the mask.
  13. Match front and back pieces right sides together, matching center front seams at the top
  14. and bottom.

  15. Pin and sew around the exterior of the mask, leaving a small opening at the bottom of
  16. the mask between the center front seam and corner to turn mask.

  17. Clip across corners, and clip curves taking care not to cut through the stitching.
  18. Turn mask right side out and press.
  19. Topstitch around the mask 1/4" from the edge, closing the hole at the bottom in the
  20. process.
  21. To make ruffle: cut 2 strips of fabric 2 1/2"x 8". Sew right sides together and turn right
  22. side out. Press.

  23. Gather seamed edge and pin to sides of mask. Stitch in place close to edge.
