SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Clover Bamboo Double Point Knitting Needles 5 inch, size 4 (comes in set of 5)
  • Lion Brand Feels Like Butta yarn
  • Stitch marker
  • Crochet hook (for finishing)

DIRECTIONS:

You will start with the sole of your bootie.
Cast on 6 stitches
Row 1: knit
Row 2: k1, m1R, k4, m1L, k1 (8 stitches total)
Row 3: k all
Row 4: k1, m1R, k4, m1L, k1 (10 stitches total)
Row 5-33: k all
Row 34: k1, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k1 (8 stitches total)
Row 35: K all
Row 36: k1, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k1 (6 stitches total)
Leave these 6 stitches on your needle.

Now you will pick up stitches to form the base of your bootie.
You will end up with 4 needles, 1 on each side and 1 on each end of your work.
Pick up 38 stitches total around the edge of your work
16 on right side
16 on left side
4 on bottom
Plus the 6 you originally knitted =
42 stitches total on your needles

Join to work in the round.
Note. that the beginning of your round starts in the top right corner, before the 6 stitches you left on your needle ending the sole.
This will be the heel end of your bootie.

Next you will work in the round to form the bootie
Row 1: purl all
Row 2-6: knit all
Row 7: knit 24, place your stitch marker.

Note that your marker will be in the middle of the 4 stitches
This will mark the front center of your bootie

Row 8: knit to 6 stitches before the marker, k2tog 3 times, slip marker, k2tog 3 times, knit to end of the round (36 stitches total)
Row 9: knit all
Row 10: knit to 6 stitches before the marker, k2tog 3 times, slip marker, k2tog 3 times, knit to end of the round (30 stitches total)
Row 11: knit all
Row 12: knit to 6 stitches before the marker, k2tog 3 times, slip marker, k2tog 3 times, knit to end of the round (24 stitches total)
Row 13: knit all

Next you will make the cuff of the bootie
Row 14- K1,P1 and repeat 1 by 1 ribbing pattern until your cuff section measures 3 inches long. Fold cuff down.

Bind off.

Tuck in ends with crochet hook.

Repeat for 2nd bootie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute bootie Used baby yarn and it is too small, then saw the yarn suggested is more worsted weight, so will try that. But I do believe there is an error on the second line of increases on the sole. Will tear out what I have started and use a worsted weight, but I like the looks of the item.
