SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

    Lion Brand® Supplies:
    Baby Soft Yarn
  • #168 Mint: 1 ball

  • Stitch Markers
  • Large-Eyed Blunt Needle
  • Crochet Hook: Size G-6
  • Fiberfill Stuffing

SIZE:
About 11" across, at widest

GAUGE:
26 hdc + 16 rows/rnds = about 4", before stuffing pillow.
Exact gauge is not essential for this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
hdc2tog (hdc 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st & draw up a loop) twice, yarn over & draw through all 5 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:
Pillow is worked in 2 identical pieces: front & back.
Front & back are sewn together & stuffed.
Each piece is worked in 2 steps:
First a center piece is worked in joined rnds.
Then petal tips are worked back & forth in rows over a portion of the sts of last rnd of center.
If you find it difficult to join the beg ch into a ring without twisting the ch, Rnd 1 can be worked as a row, then joined into a rnd, as follows:
Leaving a long beg tail, ch 46, 2 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (2 skipped ch do not count as a st), hdc in next 3 ch, * 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch; rep from * across; join with sl st in first hdc - you will have 55 hdc in this row/rnd.
Use beg tail to sew gap at base of first row closed.
Proceed to Rnd 2.

DIRECTIONS:

FRONT:
Center:
Ch 44; sl st in first ch to form a center ring, taking care not to twist ch.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 2 (does not count as a st in this rnd and in all following rnds), 2 hdc in same ch as joining sl st, hdc in next 3 ch, * 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc - you will have 55 hdc in this rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as joining sl st, hdc in next 4 sts, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc - 66 hdc.
Continue to work first st of each rnd in same st as joining sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 5 sts; rep from * around - 77 hdc.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 6 sts; rep from * around - 88 hdc.
Rnd 5: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 7 sts; rep from * around - 99 hdc.
Rnd 6: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 8 sts; rep from * around - 110 hdc.
Rnd 7: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 9 sts; rep from * around - 121 hdc.
Rnd 8: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 10 sts; rep from * around - 132 hdc.
Rnd 9: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 11 sts; rep from * around - 143 hdc.
Rnd 10: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 12 sts; rep from * around - 154 hdc.
Rnd 11: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 13 sts; rep from * around - 165 hdc.

Petal Tips:
Place a marker in the last hdc made, (sk next 32 sts, place a marker in next st) 4 times.
You will have 5 sections of 32 sts each between markers for petal tips.

First Tip:
Row 1 (RS): Hdc in each st to next marker - 32 hdc.
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st in this row and in all following rows), turn, (hdc2tog, hdc in next 6 sts) 4 times - 28 hdc.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, * hdc2tog, hdc in next 5 sts; rep from * across - 24 hdc.
Row 4: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across.
Row 5: Ch 2, turn, * hdc2tog, hdc in next 4 sts; rep from * across - 20 hdc.
Row 6: Ch 2, turn, * hdc2tog, hdc in next 3 sts; rep from * across - 16 hdc.
Row 7: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across.
Row 8: Ch 2, turn, * hdc2tog, hdc in next 2 sts; rep from * across - 12 hdc.
Row 9: Ch 2, turn, * hdc2tog, hdc in next st; rep from * across - 8 hdc.
Row 10: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across.
Row 11: Ch 2, turn, * hdc2tog; rep from * across - 4 hdc.
Fasten off.

Second-Fifth Tips:
From RS, draw up a loop of yarn in marked st following previous tip.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 2, hdc in next 32 sts to next marker - 32 hdc.
Rows 2-11: Work same as Rows 2-11 of first tip.
Fasten off.
Rep until 5 petal tips have been made.
Do not fasten off after completing the 5th petal tip.

Border:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work sc evenly spaced all the way around the outside edge of piece; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off.

BACK:
Make same as front.

FINISHING:
Hold front & back with WS together & sts matching.
With large-eyed blunt needle, working through foundation chains of both thicknesses, sew center rings of front & back together.
With large-eyed blunt needle, working through border sts, sew outer edges of front & back together, stuffing each petal section with as you go.
Weave in ends.
