SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Bandana
- Bleach
- 1/4 yd of tan canvas fabric
- 1 yd of tan cording
- Scissors
- Iron
- Sewing machine
- Coordinating thread
DIRECTIONS:
- In a plastic container, mix one-part bleach, two-parts water.
- Submerge the bandana into the water/bleach solution for a minute or two. Remove and ring excess solution from it.
- Allow wet bandana to sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Wash the bandana thoroughly. Allow to dry.
- Cut out a piece of the bandana and a piece of the canvas fabric 13"x 9 1/2".
- Cut out another piece of the canvas fabric 13"x 6 1/2".
- Fold over one edge of the 13"x 6 1/2" fabric 1/4" and iron flat. Fold over again 1/4" and iron flat. Sew along this edge.
- Place the 13"x 6 1/2" piece on top of the 13"x 9 1/2" piece. Pin the edges.
- Sew a line from the top of the 13"x 6 1/2" piece to the bottom every 4" along the length to create pockets.
- Lay the bandana fabric piece on top of the canvas piece, right sides together. Pin along the edges.
- Knot ether end of the cord piece.
- Fold the cord piece in half and place it inside the bandana and canvas fabric pieces. Make sure that the middle of the cord sticks out of the middle of one short end of the piece.
- Sew along the edge of the piece with 1/2" seams, leaving a gap for turning.
- Turn the piece right sides out.
- Iron flat.
- Top stitch around the edge of the entire piece.
