SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Textured Black Cotton Fabric
- 9" zipper
- Beads of mixed colors and sizes
- Stretchy cord
- Beading needles
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine with zipper foot
- Embroidery floss for tassel
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut two 10 1/2"x 8" rectangles out of cotton fabric (1/2" seam allowance is included)
- With right sides together, baste 10 1/2" edges to zipper tape and sew 1/4" away with zipper foot attachment.
- Fold fabric away from zipper and topstitch next to fold and close to zipper teeth.
- Move zipper head away from the stitching area as you sew to make sure you get close to the zipper teeth.
- Keeping the zipper open, pin right sides together and sew the 8" sides, then the bottom of the tote.
- Turn right side out and press.
- Select beads to sew onto fabric using stretchy cord or thread, attaching in straight lines across the bag.
- To make a tassel, thread floss through the zipper pull and attach 2 larger beads by tying a knot below the bead to secure (leave the floss long to attach the tassel to the beads)
- Wrap floss around a 4" piece of cardboard or your hand, and tie through the loop with the long floss above.
- Tie another piece of floss around the top to make the tassel top and cut through the looped end to make tassel the desired length.
JOANN HACKS:
- Be sure to use a cotton fabric heavy enough to hold a beaded design

Hard to follow
I’m sure they mean well with these cool project ideas, but the descriptions aren’t enough to help you complete the process. I went on YouTube to find visual tutorials of how to sew a cult with a zipper and then I just sewed the beds on. I wish they can maybe use some photos or a video tutorial? But
It’s a good start to a really beautiful.
