NOTES
Right side of project is facing at all times.
'Working yarn' is held behind stitches throughout work.
Loops from working yarn are always pulled through stitches from back to front of work.
To join a new color, cut thread at base of next loop (thread used to create the loop) to create a yarn 'tail'. You will now join next color. Cut thread at base of first loop of new color to create a yarn 'tail'. Tie tails of two colors together, and weave in ends.
SCARF
With A, count 100 loops for foundation row (noting yarn end is at far right and all loops are facing upwards).
1st row: Working from left to right, pull the 101st loop (from 'working yarn') up through 100th loop (last loop of foundation row) from behind to create a knit st. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next loop of foundation row. Continue in this manner to end of row. Do not turn work. 100 sts in row.
2nd row: Working from right to left, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind and through last st worked on previous row. *Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind and through next st. Repeat from * across to end of row. Do not turn.
3rd row: Working from left to right, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind and through last stitch worked on previous row. *Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind and through next st. Repeat from * across to end of row. Do not turn.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows to form basic knitting pattern.
With B, work 3 rows in basic knitting pattern.
With C, work 3 rows in basic knitting pattern.
Bind off row: With C, working in same direction as last row, pull 2nd st through 1st st. Pull 3rd st through 2nd st.
Pull 4th st through 3rd st. Continue in this manner to end of row. Cut thread at base of loop (thread used to create the loop) to create a yarn 'tail'. Tie to secure and weave in end.
POM POMS (make 2)
With B, cut first loop of yarn close to base to create a tail approx 3" long. Count 8 loops for foundation round. Tie tail to yarn between 8th and 9th loops to create ring. Place all loops facing upwards.
1st round: Working from right to left, pull first loop from working yarn up through first loop of round (first loop to the left of tie) to create a knit st. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next loop of foundation round.
Continue in this manner to end of round. Place safety pin between first and last sts of round to mark end of round.
2nd round: Working from right to left, pull first loop from working yarn up through first st of round. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next st of round. Continue in this manner to end of round.
Repeat last round twice more (4 rounds worked in total).
Cut next 3 loops of working yarn at base to create a long tail. Thread end of tail through loops of last row worked and pull tightly. Tie to secure.
FINISHING
Gather ends of Scarf, using 'tails' to secure into place. Attach one Pompom to either end of Scarf as shown.
