Right side of project is facing at all times.
Loops from working yarn are always pulled through stitches from back to front of work.
Move safety pin at end of each round to mark end of round.
For Bernat Alize Blanket-EZ Stripes there are 52 loops per each color section. Only this number of loops will work for striping effect. Determine start at the beginning of a color-change.
Foundation row: Count first 6 loops at beginning of color change (noting yarn end is at far left and all loops are facing upwards). Working from left to right, pull first 2 loops from working yarn up together through first loop to create 2 stitches. Pull next 2 loops from working yarn up together through next loop. Continue in this manner until all 6 loops have been worked. You now have 6 "double" stitches creating 12 stitches.
1st round: Working from right to left, pull first loop from working yarn up through 1 loop only of first double stitch, leaving 2nd loop unworked at back. Pull next loop from working yarn up through 1 loop only of next double stitch, leaving 2nd loop unworked at back. Continue in this manner until 1 loop of each "double" stitch has been worked. Turn work so that remaining unworked loops are facing. Working from right to left, across remaining unworked loops of double stitches, pull first loop from working yarn up through remaining loop of next double stitch. Continue in this manner to end of round. 12 stitches. Place safety pin between first and last stitches of round to mark end of round.
2nd round: Working from right to left, pull first 2 loops from working yarn up together through first stitch of round to increase 1 stitch. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next stitch of round. Continue in this manner to end of round. 13 stitches.
3rd round: Working from right to left, pull first loop from working yarn up through first stitch. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next stitch of round. Continue in this manner to end of round.
Repeat last round, stuffing lightly as you go, until work measures approximately 52" [132 cm], ending with a 3rd round of any color stripe (color change should appear after every 4 rounds).
Next round: Place first loop of round on top of second loop creating double loop - treat this double loop as 1 stitch. Pull next loop from working yarn up through double stitch - Knit 2 stitches together decrease made. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next stitch of round. Continue in this manner to end of round. 12 stitches remain.
FINISHING:
Cut working yarn between second and third loops. Cut bases of first and second stitches of working yarn close to base to create a tail approximately 6" [15 cm] long.
Fold work flat, aligning remaining 12 stitches into 2 rows of 6 stitches, one in front of the other with yarn tail at right. Pull each loop from back row up through corresponding loop at front. 6 stitches remain.
Working from left to right, pull 2nd stitch through first stitch. Pull 3rd stitch through 2nd stitch. Continue in this manner to end of row. Pull tail through remaining stitch. Tie to secure and weave in ends.
Tie work into overhand knot to create pillow.
