Crushed Velvet - BernatI fell in love with the Burgundy crushed velvet yarn when I got back into crocheting. The color is gorgeous. With the soft texture and sheen, it’s worked up nicely into an afghan in HDC (half double crochet) stitch using an “L” hook. Note: be sure to read all yarn info before you begin a project. I somehow overlooked the fact that this yarn needs to be hand washed and hang dried.
That being said, I do have a couple of issues. How and why is this yarn classified as weight #5, Bulky ? My #4 yarn is bulkier than this. Also, it has the feel of slick string, which made it difficult to work with.
Nonetheless, the afghan is lovely and I am pleased with the results.

For the best results use this stitch. For beautiful results use H 5 mm hook instead. It helps prevent loosening later. The absolute best stitch with this tricky yarn is the double half crochet stitch. Stitched between the posts of the previous row. Looks fantastic and no loosening or random popping loops. 5 stars.

Crocheted two together & was destroyed by blockingwhen I washed it to block, all these weird loops came up. I spent quite alot of money and time on making something for Christmas to have this happen. What the heck you Can't WASH this!!!! I used 2 strands together and suspect that is the problem but it doesn't say you cant do this anywhere???? I wouldn't recommend this yarn to anyone after this.

Yarn of tortureI have quite a few skeins. Beautiful, soft yarn and it works up well. These stupid loops appear for no reason after the work is well underway. I have tried three different patterns with smaller size hooks and stitches and still those loops appear. Can anyone help and tell me how to prevent that? Or is this yarn safe to use as campfire starter? Its horrible and disappointing unless someone can help.
