NOTES:
Right side of project is facing at all times.
"Working yarn" is held behind sts throughout work.
Loops from working yarn are always pulled through sts from back to front of work.
Count 65 loops for "edging tail" (to be used later)
Place marker (safety pin) in 65th loop.
Count 63 loops from marker for foundation row (noting yarn tail is at far right & all loops are facing upwards)
1st row: Working from left to right, pull 64th loop (from 'working yarn') up through 63rd loop (last loop of foundation row) from behind to create a knit st.
(Pull next loop from working yarn up through next loop of foundation row) twice.
*Skip next 2 loops from working yarn ("ladder" made)
Skip next 2 loops of foundation row.
(Pull next loop from working yarn through next loop of foundation row) 3 times.
Repeat from * to end of row.
Do not turn work.
39 knit sts in row.
2nd row: Working from right to left, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row.
(Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through next st) twice.
*Skip next 2 loops from working yarn - ladder made.
Skip next 2 loops from previous row.
(Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through next st) 3 times.
Repeat from * to end of row.
Do not turn.
3rd row: Working from left to right, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 40 times more.
Next row: As 2nd row. Do not Bind off.
Leave working yarn attached, thread waste yarn through each st of last row to secure and proceed with looped ladder rows as follows:

LOOPED LADDER ROWS:
Cut thread at base of each of 2 loops in every "ladder" to un-loop yarn being sure to leave foundation row loops intact.
Starting at first vertical row of "ladders" & working from bottom to top edge, take first 3 ladders as 1 loop & pull up from behind through first skipped loop from foundation row, then pull up from behind through 2nd skipped loop from foundation row.
*Take next 3 ladders as 1 loop & pull up from behind through 3-ladder loop from previous row.
Repeat from * to top edge (see diagram)
Create looped ladder rows by repeating instructions for each vertical row of ladders.

Return to top edge of blanket, remove waste yarn & continue as follows:

NEXT ROW:
Working from left to right, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row. (Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through next st) twice.
*Pull next 2 loops from working yarn up from behind through next 3-ladder loop.
(Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through next st) 3 times.
Repeat from * to end of row.
Do not turn.
63 sts in row.

BIND OFF ROW:
Working in same direction as last row, pull 2nd st through first st.
Pull 3rd st through 2nd st.
Pull 4th st through 3rd st.
Continue in this manner to the end of row.
Cut last loop to create a yarn 'tail'.
Tie to secure & weave in ends.

FOUNDATION ROW EDGING:
Working from right to left along bottom edge, remove stitch marker & pull 65th loop from edging tail up through 1st loop of foundation row from behind to create a knit st.
Pull next loop from edging tail up through next loop of foundation row.
Continue in this manner to end of row.
Do not turn work.
63 sts in row.

BIND OFF EDGING:
As bind off row on top edge.
