Directions
Note: To change colors, work to last 2 loops on hook of last st, then draw new color through rem 2 loops and proceed. Ch 2 does not count as hdc.
STRIPS 2 AND 4 (make 2 alike-worked sideways) With A, ch 152. 1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 151 sts. 2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Join MC. Turn. 3rd row: With MC, ch 2. 1 hdc in first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 hdc in next sc. Rep from * across. Join A. Turn. 4th row: With A, ch 1. *2 sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 sc in last hdc. Turn. 5th to 13th rows: As 2nd to 4th rows 3 times. 14th row: As 2nd row. Fasten off. Note: The beg and ends of each row of Strips 1, 3 and 5 are joined to sides (final row and foundation row) of Strips 2 and 4. When joining Strips 2 and 4, place final rows at right-hand side.
STRIP 3 With MC, ch 27. 1st row: (RS). Sl st in 3rd st of foundation row of Strip 4. [(1 dc. Ch 1) 3 times. 1 dc - shell made] in 5th ch from hook. *Miss next 3 ch. Shell in next ch. Rep from * to last 2 ch. Miss next ch. 1 dc in last ch. Sl st in 3rd st of final row of Strip 2. 6 shells. Turn. 2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Miss next 2 sts of Strip 2. Sl st in next st. *Shell in center ch-1 sp of next shell. Rep from * across. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Miss next 2 sts of Strip 4. Sl st in next st. Turn. Rep last row 48 times more (all sts of Strips 2 and 4 will be joined). Fasten off.
STRIP 1 Work as for Strip 3, joining to foundation row side of Strip 2.
STRIP 5 Work as for Strip 3, joining to final row side of Strip 4.
Edging: 1st rnd: Join MC with sl st in top right corner. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp. Work 1 rnd of sc evenly around, having 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 4. (1 dc. Ch 3.
