SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Tulip® One-Step Tie-Dye Kit® SuperBig
  • T-shirts, white 100% natural fiber
  • Disposable plastic table cover
  • Paper plate
  • Washable marker
  • Plastic bags or plastic wrap

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Wash shirts and leave damp. Lay out flat on covered work surface and smooth out wrinkles.
  2. Mix dyes according to package instructions.

For Spiral:

  1. Twist shirt into a spiral and secure with rubber bands into six pie-shaped wedges.
  2. Apply dyes to banded shirt, alternating colors in the pie shaped wedges.
  3. Turn shirt over and apply dyes to back side.

For Double Bullseye:

  1. Use paper plate to design a circle on shoulder and at waist of shirt. Trace around plate with washable marker.
  2. Pleat along first circle, drawing fabric into a straight line so that marker forms a straight line along tops of folds. Secure tightly along this line with rubber band.
  3. Secure desired number of rubber bands or zip ties outside of first tie.
  4. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on second marker circle.
  5. Apply dyes to tied sections of shirt.  Squeeze Orange dye to the center of the circle, Purple to the band areas and Yellow to the remaining white areas of the shirt.

For both:

  1. Cover dyed shirts with plastic and allow to set 6-8 hours.
  2. Remove bands from shirt and rinse under running water to remove excess dye.
  3. Wash and dry shirt as fabric requires.
