Hi everyone, Jen visiting from Craft-O-Maniac. Today I am sharing a darling gift to give to your kid’s teachers either at the beginning of the school year, Teacher Appreciation week or at the end of the year. Just a “sweet” simple “Apple Stenciled Treat Jar”.
What you will need:
• Cricut Explore Air
• Cricut cutting mat
• Cricut Vinyl
• Cricut Design Space
• Plain glass jars
• Twine
• Red colored candy
To get started I turned on my Cricut Explore, placed my Cricut vinyl down onto my mat and then I searched “apple clip art” through a Google search. Once I was happy with the image I simply right clicked my mouse and saved the image. I then went into my Cricut Design space and uploaded the image, sized the image, duplicated it two more times, and then cut it out. Once I cut it out I made sure my jars were dust free. I placed the vinyl apple decal onto the glass jar. I then moved onto chalk painting the jars giving each jar two coats. Once they were semi-dry I carefully used one of my Cricut tools to help peel off the vinyl decal. I was very careful and I would recommend doing this before the chalk paint fully dries. I then took some twine and wrapped it around the neck of each jar twice and tied a knot. I filled the jars with some candy, and then took a piece of chalk and rubbed it here and there on the jars to show that they are in fact now chalkboard jars. Now you are done.
Let’s take a look.
The great thing about this project is that if you want the jars super simple, you can just add the vinyl apple decal. In fact, I thought this looked super clean and cute. Plus copper (copper metallic vinyl) is such a popular color right now.
I loved how they turned out. They kind of have an old school feel to them. My kids will be giving these to their teachers tomorrow. YAY! And back to school here we come!
Thanks,
Jen
