Lovelies! Today is national coffee day and that is one of the best days because we get to celebrate what we love to enjoy every day! Emily here from B. Lovely Events and today I have 2, yes 2, coffee projects for you that will take your coffee game to the next level. Both of these coffee ideas are quick, easy and use a Cricut machine to complete them. They are both so cute and are perfect to do for National Coffee Day.
Coffee Is My Love Language Coffee Cup
This coffee mug is amazingly cute. I love the light pink of it and the tumbler is extra-large, holding a lot of coffee. This is always good for those Monday mornings.
JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores has everything that you need for both projects. Shop in stores or online!
• Cricut Machine
• Maverick Tumbler – I love the pink one but they come in all sort of colors. They are big and perfect for hot or cold coffee!
• Copper Cricut Vinyl
• Standard Cricut Cutting Mat
• Cricut Tool Set
• Cricut Transfer Tape
Step 1: Save this image with the super cute saying, coffee is my love language to your computer.
Step 2: Upload the image to the Cricut design space. Select as a complex image.
Then remove all of the white areas with the magic wand. Be sure to select the white areas inside the letters as well.
Save as a cut image and select if for your design space. Size it to 5 inches, and hit make it.
Step 3: Cut your vinyl to the size of the standard cutting mat. Press it down to the cutting mat to secure. Load the cutting mat to the Cricut machine.
Turn the dial to vinyl and then hit the Cricut go button. Watch it work its magic.
The saying will be cut into the vinyl. The next step is to weed out the outer part of vinyl and leave just the letter. Start by taking a corner of the vinyl and separating it from the white bottom.
Once started to remove the entire vinyl sheet from the mat, being gentle around the letters. The letters will be left on the white sheet.
Take your wedding tool and remove the vinyl from inside the o’s, e’s and g’s.
Step 4: Take the transfer tape and cut it to the size of the letters. Separate the transfer tape from the white background and place it over the letters.
Use a Cricut scraper to secure the letters to the transfer tape.
Step 5: In a diagonal direction, start pulling up the transfer tape, taking the vinyl cut letters up with it.
Tip: It can be tricky to get the letters to come up with the transfer tape sometimes. While you are lifting up the transfer tape, use your wedding tool to help lift the vinyl letters to tape to help remove them.
Step 6: Line up the letters to your tumbler. When they are exactly where you want, secure the letters to the tumbler.
Press down on the letters so they are really secure to the tumbler.
Once pressed down, removed the transfer tape in a diagonal direction, leaving the letters on the tumbler and taking away the tape.
Ta-da! Your coffee saying is not on your tumbler. I just love how darling coffee is my love language is as a coffee saying, it makes me all warm inside. Just like coffee! I can’t wait to take a sip from this mug now and see the cute saying every time!
Espresso Yourself Sweater
I love this coffee saying on this sweater! I can’t wait to wear this today on National Coffee Day. The cat coffee mug 100% has my heart though. With Cricut Iron-on glitter, it is super easy to make. Here are the steps.
What you need:
• Cricut Machine
• Cricut Iron-on Rainbow Glitter
• Cricut Iron-on Pink Glitter
• Standard Cricut Cutting Mat
• Cricut Tool Set
• Linen Tote Bag or Fabric
• Fine Tipped Permanent Marker
Step 1: Save this image with the adorable coffee saying, espresso yourself to your computer.
You are also going to save this image of a cat coffee mug and the coffee steam too.
Step 2: Follow the same steps for uploading an image as you did for the Coffee is my love language saying. You will size the espresso yourself saying to 10 inches. The cat cup will be cut 2nd and separately.
Step 3: Cut the rainbow glitter paper to the size of the cutting mat. Secure it to the mat, shiny side down.
Once you hit make it on the design space, make sure the mirror image is selected.
Turn the machine to iron on setting and press the go button.
Step 4: Once the saying is cut, separate the glitter sheet from the clear bottom. Gently remove the glitter from the letters. Leaving just the letters on the clear bottom.
Weed out the middles of the o’s and r’s with your wedding tool.
Step 5: Take the clear sheet with the letters off the mat and line them up on your sweater where you would like the place the saying. Once you have your perfect aligning and positioning, press down on the letters and the clear backing. They will stick slightly.
Step 6: Heat your iron to cotton or linen setting. It will be dry heat only, you do not want steam when you are heating the letters. Take a linen bag or fabric and cover the letters with it.
Once heated, take your iron and press and hold on the letters for 15 -20 seconds. Once you have finished a section, lift up and press down again on another section. You do not want to move the iron back and forth. Repeat until the whole saying has been pressed. Let cool.
Step 7: Once cool and letters are fully secured, lift the clear sheet away from the letters.
The Espresso Yourself is now on your sweater! I just glow the rainbow glitter of the letters on the black fabric of the sweater. It really pops.
Step 8: Repeat all the steps for the coffee mug and steam as espresso yourself. You will use the pink glitter iron on for the cup (or really whatever color you fancy) and size it to about 4 inches. The steam will also be added above to cup to be cut as well.
Step 9: Once the cup and steam are ironed onto the sweater, it’s time to customize the look. Take your fine tipped marker and draw a tiny kitty face on it. It helps to reference the kitty cup image while you are drawing.
Tip: You don’t have to make a kitty face on your mug or have the mug on the sweater at all. I just thought the little mug was too cute and added a cute element to the sweater.
Your coffee saying sweater is complete! If you love coffee, you are definitely going to love this sweater. I know I do!
Yup, that’s me! I’ll be whether my espresso yourself sweater today for National Coffee Day. I hope you get to make yours and wear it today too!
