The New Year is upon us, which means it’s time to get our acts together! It’s time to get organized and tackle 2018 with all you’ve got. With this in mind, I’m adding a bit of crafting to my new year’s organization resolution.
This family command center is a great way to keep all your important documents, items and lists in one place for all to see. To create this command station, I searched JOANN or items that are organizational must-haves. I definitely encourage you to do the same! You’ll be wowed with what you’ll find. Next to the corkboards, chalkboards and whiteboards, you’ll find a big assortment of dry erase pens, push pins, magnets and more. These are all the elements you’ll need to craft up the perfect command center.
Let me show you how:
MAKE A GROCERY LIST BOARD
Encourage everyone in the family to scribble down their grocery needs on this stylish whiteboard.
We R Memory Keepers Banner Punch Board
Small squares of paper
A whiteboard (I spraypainted mine!)
Step 1: Use the punchboard to create mini pennant flags
Step 2: Add the stickers to spell out “grocery” on your banner
Step 3: String the banner together then add it to the whiteboard
EASY PAPER POCKETS
Stash bills, receipts and more in these easy to make paper pockets
Step 1: Score the paper at 5” along the 12” edge
Step 2: Score the paper at .5” and 8.75” along the 9” edge
Step 3: once the scoring is done, trim away the sides of the large portion as shown
Step 4: Fold the pocket together using a tape runner to adhere down the side tabs
Step 5: Use a tape runner to adhere the pockets to the corkboard, then use stickers to label each of the pockets.
EASY STICKER MAGNETS
JOANN carries adorable magnetic chalkboards that are great for writing notes or mounting calendars, permission slips…you get the idea. Why not make your own magnets for your chalkboard using the wide selection of planner stickers available at JOANN!
Adhesive Magnet Sheets
Step 1: Peel off the backing from the adhesive magnet sheet
Step 2: Peel stickers from the planner sticker book and place them onto the adhesive side of the magnet sheet.
Step 3: Continue placing stickers on the adhesive side of the magnet sheet, then use scissors to cut them out. Now you’ve created your own magnets!
Now that you’ve completed these little projects, you can assemble your corkboard, whiteboards and chalkboards into an arrangement that works for your family. Maybe you’ll put it in the kitchen or in the entryway. You have complete freedom when you DIY your command center. Have fun with it!
