  33. Pillow Construction: 1/2" seam allowance used throughout.
  34. Pillows with Covered Binding
  35. Sew 2"-wide fabric pieces together to create needed length for each pillow to cover cording.
  36. Create covered binding: Fold 2" fabric strip over the cotton cording. On a sewing machine use a basting stitch and zipper foot to sew a seam close to cotton cording. Begin stitching 2" from end of cording. Two inches of cotton cording will be exposed. Stitch the length of the fabric keeping the seam snug next to cotton cording.
  37. Trim off the exposed cotton cording at end. Fold under the excess fabric.
  38. To attach covered binding to pillow top, pin binding to pillow front/top, beginning with the end that is folded. Match edge of binding to edge of fabric with piping toward middle of the pillow top. The binding will be sandwiched inside while sewing back-to-front.
  39. Start stitching 2" from beginning of binding, leaving the folded end free. Stitch binding around pillow top using a zipper foot. Clip the binding seam allowance at each corner to fit the turn.
  40. Stop stitching a few inches from beginning. Cut the binding so it butts up with the cotton cording at the beginning. Neatly tuck the excess folded fabric over the binding and finish stitching, catching the end and beginning of the binding.
  41. Overlap the two back fabric pieces to match the size of the front. Pin. Machine baste sides along seam line.
  42. Stitch bottom to top, RST, sandwiching the binding in the middle. Pin. Use zipper foot and 1/2" seam to stitch around entire pillow. Clip corners. Turn right side out. Push corners out.
  43. Pillows without Covered Binding
  44. Overlap the two back fabric pieces to match the size of the front. Pin. Machine baste sides along seam line.

  49. Slip stitch opening closed.
