SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Simplicity® 9055
  • Medium-weight interfacing
  • Suitable lining & suit fabric, see pattern for yardage
  • Buttons
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Follow the pattern instructions to complete the body of the suit jacket.
  2. To add two buttons instead of one, measure 1" down from the pattern button placement.
  3. Mark and stitch the button holes on the left front jacket, stitch buttons.
  4. On the commercial pattern, place the front facing piece on the front jacket piece matching notches.
  5. Trace out the outline of the front facing piece on the front jacket piece, creating the front lining pattern piece.
  6. Use the commercial pattern's back jacket piece and sleeve pieces for the lining.
  7. Assemble and line the jacket per commercial pattern instructions.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
  • Using a medium-weight woven interfacing gives the lapels more structure.
  • Hand stitching the suit jacket's hem is a nice touch, using a small 'catch' stitch.
