Braided Ribbon Wreath

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 14" flat foam wreath form
• 15yds 3" or 4" velvet ribbon
• 30yds 3/4" velvet ribbon
• 10yds 3" satin, Nandini bias cut, or grosgrain ribbon
• Straight pins with large ball or pearl end
• Seasonal floral or feather picks
• Floral wire
• Wire snippers
• Alligator clips

DIRECTIONS:

1. Wrap wreath form in 3" ribbon, using a straight pin to attach the starting and finishing ends.
2. Braid extra-wide ribbon, clipping ends with alligator clips.
3. Position braided ribbon around center of wreath form, pinning every few inches to hold in place. Remove clip from one end and fold ends under braid. Pin in place.
4. If extra coverage is needed, braid 3/4" velvet ribbon and pin around inside and outside end of wreath. Attach using same method as larger ribbon.
5. Position floral picks as desired. Wire together in bunches and snip off excess stem length. Use ends of braided ribbon to cover ends of stems. Remove alligator clips, fold ribbon ends under braid and pin braids and picks in place as needed.
6. Hang wreath.

JOANN HACKS:

• Tie ribbon loosely to back of a chair or table leg to braid. Braid standing, pulling ribbon straight as it is braided. Be sure to keep ribbon ends from tangling as you braid.
• Wider ribbon offers more coverage to wreath form. Amount of ribbon needed will vary according to wreath size.
