Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommend This Machine. This is a great machine for my use. It takes a little bit to get use to the 'computerized' way of sewing. That being said - - I Really like I can use the foot pedal, or just press the sew button on the machine. Still trying to get the Auto Needle thread option to work, but that is my issue. I sew a lot of polar fleece throws for family/friends and for gift baskets for raffles. My way of giving back to so many. My former machine is over 50 years old and very heavy. This one feels well made and is light weight. Would Highly recommend this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Advantages and difficulties Difficulties during the learning process: The automatic needle threader wasn't moving into position to thread the needle and I couldn't figure out what was going on, even after reading the steps in the maual thoroughly several times. A YouTube video explained that the needle has to be in the highest position to make this work properly.  This important fact was NOT mentioned in the steps in the manual.  I found out later, it IS mentioned in the troubleshooting guide. Well....don't make us troubleshoot!!!  Rewrite the steps to include that important fact!  Bobbin threading procedure is more complicated than it needs to be.  Instead of just passing the thread thru the tension disc, you have to loop it around 3  other structures before getting to the tension disc. Also, if the thread is not taut thru this whole path, it can very easily drop down and loop around the spool pin under the watch carefully as you wind the bobbin! When following the path to thread the needle, the "thread take up lever" does not extend above the top of the machine and is in a crevice where it is difficult to even see it...but you have to loop the thread around it.  I have to use a flashlite to shine into the space to see if the thread wrapped around it properly. Being an experienced sewer, I knew what was supposed to be happening here and as I went through the motions, the thread seemed to always loop to where it was supposed to go thankfully.  But I imagine a newbie would find this frustrating.  I sure did! I was having some problems where thread bunches up under the fabric but discovered sometimes this was caused by trying to reverse when using certain stitch patterns.  The stitch chart on pg 58 has a column specifying which stitch patterns allow reversing and which just have a reinforcement stitch. I was also experiencing thread bunching under my fabric....couldn't figure out what what happening...but once I lowered the tension by changing to a lower number (even though my stitches were looking fine in both top and bottom) that problem stopped happening.  By default, when the machine is turned on, the needle position is in the leftmost position. It can be set to be centered...but why is that the default?  I'm guessing it is because this is a quilting machine. Advantages: Buttonholes are simple with this machine! And look so professional.  But take note: to get buttonholes lined up vertically on your project, ( one directly under the one above it)  it's important to know how to line up the endpoint (which is the point closest to you) of your chalk-marked buttonhole to be centered between the 3 red markings on the buttonhole presser foot.  Don't line up the needle with the 3 red markings.  Start/stop button eliminates the need for foot pedal.  Foot pedal is also included though for those who prefer that.  Automatic needle threader is a nice concept, although I find it easier to just thread the needle myself. Nice features for quilting: Drop feed dogs for free motion sewing Comes with 1/4 inch foot for quilting and the free motion foot wider bed extension I am looking forward to having fun with this machine and I hope this review helps some people avoid some of the problems I experienced.
