SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
Cut an 11x11 piece of fabric. Saturate with Stiffen Quik Spray and allow to dry. Repeat until fabric is stiffened.
Using cake board as a pattern, trace and cut out one circle from batting and one circle from felt.
Lightly glue batting to one side of cake board.
Place batting side of board on the wrong side of stiffened fabric and mark a circle 1 inch from edge of board. Cut out fabric circle.
Glue fabric circle to the back of the cake board, turning edges to the back and snipping fabric as necessary to lie flat.
Glue felt circle to back of board.
(Optional non-slip backing: Cut a 9 in square from rug liner mesh. Center felt circle on mesh and sew 1/4 in from edge of felt circle and from side to side in a "+" figure. Place a piece of parchment paper under the mesh while sewing. Pull off parchment paper and trim mesh close to stitching at the edge of the circle. Glue felt side to the back of covered board.)
Cut fabric 8 1/2"x 17 1/2" and 8 1/2" x 7". Fold each in half, right sides together, matching the 17 1/2" and 7" sides, respectively. Sew with a 1/4" seam along edges, leaving an opening in the center of the long side for stuffing. Clip corners and turn. Stuff to desired stiffness and hand sew the opening closed.
