DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
- Cut a piece of canvas 4 squares wider and 4 squares longer than the grid of the template.
- Fold under 2 squares on each side of the cut canvas piece.
- With two strands of yarn, stitch around the entire outer edge of the canvas to secure the folded edge.
- Begin following the locker hooking pattern.
- To create the locker hook design, cut a length of yarn and knot one end to the first square of the design.
- Thread the other end through the eye of the locker hook.
- Use two strands of yarn for each color when pulling up loops, to ensure the thickness of the piece.
- Insert the hook end of the locker hook into the first square and pull up a loop of yarn.
- Insert the hook into the next square and pull up another loop.
- Repeat this for a few squares, then pull the hook with the attached working yarn through all of the loops created.
- Continue pulling up loops to the end of the row.
- Be sure to change the colors of loops as the pattern indicates.
- At the end of the row, turn the piece and work the next row in the opposite direction.
- Continue working the pattern until the piece is finished.
- When the piece is finished, weave in any yarn ends at the back of the piece.
