  1. Cut a 10" by width of bag piece of canvas from one of the tote bags to create the pocket. Transfer markings from Template A to wrong side of pocket.
  2. Hand stitch a running stitch using white embroidery floss along straight lines of grid design. Using a variety of colors of buttons, embroidery floss, and decorative stitches, stitch one button in the center of each grid square. See template A for example stitches.
  3. Top stitch pink bias tape along top of pocket, tucking raw edge of canvas inside the bias tape.
  4. Fold under 1/4" along bottom of pocket and pin in place to second canvas tote. Top stitch in place along folded edge.
  5. Remove canvas handles from top of tote. Cut (2) pieces of orange bias tape the width of the bag. Top stitch in place over top edges of tote.
  6. Cut (2) pieces of orange bias tape slightly longer than the sides of the tote. Top stitch in place over side seams and raw edges of pocket, folding under top and bottom edges of bias tape.
