DIRECTIONS:

NOTES:
Body of Bee is worked in rounds.
The wings are worked directly onto the Body.
When you want to join a new ball of yarn, you’ll need to join when you’re at the end of a round. Pull out one end of the new yarn, leave 2-3 loops hanging, then continue to work in rounds with the new ball.

SPECIAL STITCH:
K2tog (Knit 2 stitches/loops together): stack the next 2 loops together with the 2nd loop in front of the 1st loop. Pull the next loop on the working yarn through both loops.

BUMBLEBEE:
BODY
Rnd 1: Pull out one end of yarn A and cut open 2 loops to create a tail, count out 3 loops and tie the tail between loops 3 and 4. Check to be sure that all loops are facing upwards and that the loops aren’t twisted.
You’ll be working in rounds.
Mark the first loop of each round with a short length of contrast yarn.
Tip: This yarn is designed so that the loops stay in place — you can set the Bumblebee down at any point and the loops won’t come undone.
The yarn that’s coming from the yarn ball is called the working yarn.
Rnd 2: Keep the working yarn behind each round. Insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, into the 1st loop, grasp 4th loop and draw it through, insert thumb and forefinger in same loop, grasp next loop of working yarn and draw it through, *insert thumb and forefinger in next loop and pull through next 2 loops; repeat from * in next loop - you will have 6 loops.
Rnd 3: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull 2 loops through each loop in round - 12 loops.
Rnd 4: With working yarn behind round, *insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop through next loop, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 2 loops through next loop; repeat from * around - 18 loops.
Rnd 5: With working yarn behind round, *insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop through next 2 loops, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 2 loops through next loop; repeat from * around - 24 loops.
Rnds 6-8: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 24 loops.
Join B, drop A.
Rnds 9 and 10: With B and with working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 24 loops.
Pick up A, drop B.
Rnds 11 and 12: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 24 loops.
Pick up B, drop A.
Rnds 13 and 14: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 24 loops.
Pick up A, drop B.
Rnds 15 and16: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 24 loops.
Pick up B, cut A.
Rnds 17-18: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 24 loops.
Rnd 19: With working yarn behind round, *insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in next loop, k2tog; repeat from * around - 16 loops.
Rnd 20: With working yarn behind round, (k2tog) 8 times - 8 loops.
Stuff body with fiberfill stuffing.
Rnd 21: With working yarn behind round, (k2tog) 4 times - 4 loops.
Rnd 22: With working yarn behind round, insert thumb and forefinger, from front to back, pull up 1 loop in each loop around - 4 loops.
Rnd 23: With working yarn behind round, (k2tog) 2 times - 2 loops.
Rnd 24: K2tog.
Skip the next few loops of the working yarn and cut the yarn. Snip off the loops from the yarn tail. Just snip the loops off, don’t cut through the yarn. Pull the trimmed tail through the last loop and knot.

LEFT WING
Wings will be worked in rows with yarn behind work, from right to left and left to right without turning.
The wings are made with yarn C.
On top center of Body, starting at Rnd 10, pull up a loop of C in Rnd 10, a loop in Rnd 11 and a loop in Rnd 12 to join wing to Body directly.
Row 1: With yarn behind work, with thumb and forefinger, pull up 2 loops in first loop, pull up a loop in next loop, pull up 2 loops in the last loop - 5 loops.
Row 2: With yarn behind work, with thumb and forefinger, pull up a loop in first 2 loops, pull up 2 loops in next loop, pull up a loop in next 2 loops - 6 loops.
Row 3: With yarn behind work, with thumb and forefinger, pull up 2 loops in first loop, pull up a loop in next 4 loops, pull up 2 loops in last loop - 8 loops.
Row 4: With yarn behind work, with thumb and forefinger, k2tog, pull up a loop in next 4 loops, k2tog placing left over right to complete - 6 loops.
Bind off as follows:
Drop the working yarn.
Working in the same direction as the last row you made, pull the second loop through the first; pull the third loop through the second; pull the fourth through the third - and so on across to the end of the row.
Now you’re back at the side with the working yarn. Carefully snip the remaining loops from working yarn tail. Pull working yarn through the last loop and knot.
Carefully snip the remaining loops from the yarn tail. Just snip the loops off, don’t cut through the yarn! Pull each of the trimmed tails through the loops of the wing to secure them.

RIGHT WING
On top center Body, starting at Rnd 12, pull up a loop of C in Rnd 12, Rnd 11 and Rnd 10 to join Wing to Body directly,
Repeat Rows 1-4 of Left Wing.

FINISHING:
Note: Refer to photo for eye placement.
Cut 3 loops of B - so that you have 3 short lengths of B. Wrap the strands around stitches of Body and knot to make an eye.
Repeat to make a second eye.
