  3. Outside panel may be pieced together to finished size. 5/8" on each outer edge of panels reserved to accommodate thickness of cardboard and 1/2" bias tape finished edge. Bias tape cut 2" strips of each fabric. Double fold length to make 1/2" tape.
  4. Cut one outside panel. Optional: piece together panels adding 1/2" to each seam edge to finish height and width. Fuse interfacing. Optional: for spiral bound or to create a soft edge on both sides of cover add a strip of batting to the binding sections of outside panel. Baste in place. Cut one inside panel. Mark locations of binding and fore edge on panel.
  5. Pockets, sleeve and flap: All parts will be attached to inside panel by one side 1/2" SA (except flap) and basted to the outer edges of the inside panel. Print patterns should be centered on panels. Print 1/2" from sides and bias tape edges will not be visible. Add interfacing fused to the WS of all fronts. Back with cotton the same color as the inside panel. Baste together and add bias tape prior to attaching to other parts.

Lower portion will be covered by lower pocket. Adjust print accordingly. Lower pocket: height, 1/3 H of angle top pocket x width same as angle top pocket. Layer finished lower pocket RSU on top of angle top pocket RSU. Match sides and bottom edges. Baste 1/4" from edges. Mark a vertical line centered side to side on lower pocket. Sew on the line from bottom edge to bias tape. On inside panel mark a vertical line 1/2" to left of measurement for start of binding. Lay pocket panel WSU onto center of inside panel. Line up left raw edge of pocket panel with vertical line. Sew 1/2" from raw edge. Fold back pocket panel matching raw edges with side and bottom edges of inside panel. Press. Baste.
  7. Center sleeve (pocket for back of notebook): H of inside panel x W center panel between binding and fore edge. Two pockets on top of sleeve both same width as center sleeve. Deep pocket at least 1/2 H of sleeve. Bottom pocket 1/2 H of deep pocket. Layer RSU, deep pocket then lower pocket matching sides and bottom edges. Baste raw edges together. Mark a vertical line centered side to side on lower pocket. Sew on the line from bottom edge to bias tape. Layer RSU sleeve then pockets matching sides and bottom edges. Baste. Add bias tape to left vertical edge. On inside panel mark a vertical line 1/2" to left of measurement for start of fore edge section of inside panel. Lay sleeve panel WSU onto right side of inside panel. Line up left raw edge of sleeve panel with vertical line. Sew 1/2" from raw edge. Fold back sleeve panel matching top and bottom raw edges with top and bottom edges of inside panel. Press. Baste.
  8. Flip panel, pencil/pen holder: Bottom pocket, H 4" and 5/8" x width of flip panel section of inside panel and 1/2". On inside panel mark a vertical line 1/2 to right of side binding. Lay pocket panel WSU onto center sleeve panel. Line up right raw edge of pocket panel with vertical line. Sew 1/2" from raw edge. Fold back pocket panel matching bottom and side edges with bottom and side edges of inside panel. Press. Baste. Start 5/8" from right side, mark vertical lines dividing pocket into 1/4", 1" sections. Sew from bottom edge to bias tape. Top flap: width of pocket, 3/4"x height: measure from top of pocket to top of inside panel subtract 1/2", 1" for height of right side of flap. Bottom edge at 60 degree angle up from right side. Adjust longest side so the opposite side is 1 5/8", 2 5/8" long. Add small amount of Liquid Stitch under corners of bias tape to secure. Lay flap RSU above pencil/pen pocket lining up the left sides. Match top edge with top edge of inside panel. Baste. Set aside.
  9. Add bias tape to outside panel. Start and stop at bottom center. Place WST inside panel on top of outside panel.
