Adult Dress

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Simplicity #9138
• Fabric -Yardage based on pattern and size
• 22" Invisible zipper
• 7/8 of a yard of 1/2" wide elastic
• Thread to match
• Tape measure and/or clear ruler
• Pins
• Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

1. Follow patten instructions for layout and sewing.
2. Cut out all pattern pieces.
3. Cut out all pieces in fabric.
4. Mock Neck collar option: Use piece #5 Neck Band - Use same length but make pattern piece
5. 4 1/2" high. Cut pattern piece on bias. Follow pattern instructions.
6. Turn tie/belt, press, insert into casing.

Daughter Dress

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Simplicity #8708
• Fabric- Yardage based on pattern and size
• 14" Invisible zipper
• 1/2 yd of 3/8" elastic
• Thread to match
• Tape measure and or clear ruler
• Pins
• Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

1. Follow patten instructions for layout and sewing.
2. Cut out all pattern pieces.
3. Cut out all pieces in fabric.
4. Mock neck collar option: After Step #26 in pattern directions.
5. Cut out Neck band 3 1/2"x 16" long on bias (for size 8 - measure neck circumference on pattern for other sizes).
6. Press under 3/8" on long side of collar, with right sides together, pin unpressed side to neck opening and stitch at 3/8" to fit neck opening. Trim seam and clip curves. Turn pressed edge of binding to inside, encasing the raw edge and just covering the stitching. Pin, stitch in the ditch from outside, catching the pressed edge in stitching.
7. Add Tie Casing to match Mom dress: add after dress is complete.
8. Cut out piece 6 1/2"x 5"- Fold casing in half lengthwise with right sides together (on longer length). Use 3/8" to stitch sides and across top leaving opening across top for turning.
9. Turn casing to outside, press, slipstich opening closed.
10. On outside of dress, center the casing between front seams at waist. Edgestitch casing to dress leaving sides open.
11. Tie/belt: Cut piece 55"x 4", cut V into ends to make angled ends. Fold in half lengthwise with right sides together, stitch at 3/8" seam leaving an opening to turn. Trim seam and corners.
12. Turn tie/belt, press, insert into casing.

• Add Casing and tie to girls dress to match mommy dress.
• Try on dress prior to closing elastic tunnel to check for comfort fit at sleeves.
